The craziest solution to an annoying problem!!!!

I took out a starlings nest from the pin box of my 3580RL that would make a beaver proud. I was going to have a cover made so they would not get into it again when one of the techs at our RV dealership told me something and it works like a champ. Go to a toy store and by a rubber snake, put it in the opening while stored and the birds will NOT go in...........................who would have ever thought!!! I watch the birds look in and then immediately fly away.

Barn Swallows are as bad with them mud nest they build. They were just messing up the front porch every year at my place building up in the rocks. the porch just covered in mud, feathers and poo. I put a section of black rubber hose up there and works great to. No birds in 4 or so years now.

One time I hooked up my rig and drove 600 miles. When I arrived and began setting things up I heard chirping. The chirping was from a nest in the pinbox and the poor little birds had "hitch-hiked", without parental escort, the entire distance. Well, it didn't end very well for the little guys, but I did block the opening to prevent further bad endings. The snake idea is very creative. Maybe I'll try one in my cash drawer to keep the DW from shopping with my beer money!!

We had some birds build a nest inside the the front area next to the pin box in our Big Horn. There are small holes in the frame, around the pin box, that are used to run the wiring from the the 7-pin connector to the rest of the trailer. The hole is only used on one side and the other is open. We had to remove the screws holding the bottom piece of fiberglass up to get to the nest. Spray foam solved that problem after removing a very large nest.
