After Market Pin Boxes

I have not seen any threads at this site about after-market pin boxes. Are plenty on RV.net. I personally talked to Lippert this morning and was assured that it will not void the warranty on the frame. In fact they make there own shock absorbing pin box. I also have a question, maybe it belongs in another forum? We will be using our new 5er more now and what do we do with crazy cat who is 12 yrs old now. When we put a harness on her she plays " dead cat" and if you put a leash on her you can pull her around and dust the floors. Any info would be helpful.

Bob and Patty,

arisce (Bill and Karen) travel with a cat. Perhaps they can give you some tips.

I may just have to create a "Traveling with Pets" forum on here :)

There are a few boxes that B&W does not approve and will void the warranty. If you have a B&W you might check into that.

Lippert owns Trailiair. We just installed a Mor/Ryde. Have only towed with it for about 30 miles total, but it DOES make a difference. We will pull it about 2000 miles in about 2 weeks. Am anxious to see how well it behaves over the long haul. Thus far it seems to have smoothed out a great deal of the chucking.

Trailair works great. Have had a Trailair on 3 different 5er's and it really does a good job.

I was surprised to hear that 5th airborne gave you slightly more chucking. Their claim is it reduces it. What type of pin box did you have before.
I am looking to change my pin box and 5th airborne is the one at the top of my list. They claim is address both movements up and down and chucking.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Wayne

The Airborne is simply a reversed TrailAir with less travel. They both will help with up and down shock, but in My opinion, coming from a TrailAir background, do nothing for chucking which is a forward backward motion. If its chucking that your trying to cure, I would think your going to be better off with a MoRide. If money is not a problem, get an air hitch. Our TrailAir does an great job of absorbing shock, but when you accelerate, it introduces an additional felt sensation of vertical lift, and when you slow it does the oppisite, this is perhaps where Ed was coming from with the Airborn. I've pulled both in LA where the freeways are a bit less than perfect, and honestly, there was not a huge felt difference.

I have been pulling with a MorRyde pin box for over a year now. It eliminates 90% or more of the chucking I've experienced with other pin boxes. It does not do much for the bounce. That's where air ride or air bags come in. I used it with my last TV and Firestone air bags and it worked well. My current TV has Link Ultra Air suspension. That's a super combination with the MorRyde pin box.

We have the 5th airborn and I love the ride it gives. The only complaint I have is where they had to put the air valve, it is really a pain when you have to add air. You add air once hooked up and have to reach under and up to add air.../Doug

Regarding the Cat

Try putting the leash on the cat and just let the cat drag the leash around the house for a while. Eventually the cat will move with the leash.

I'll second JP MOrgans statement.. The Mor-Ryde is the easiest to maintain also...Actually no adjustments or maintainance necessary
