Moab UT

I am going to UT in Oct and have decided to save Bryce and Zion for another trip since I will probably be in Lake Havasu City every Oct. We have decided to head straight to Moab and I am looking at the BLM campgrounds along the Colo River. It looks like 3 of them can accommodate big rigs, no hookups of course. I was just wondering if anybody knows anything about these campsites. If so, how difficult might it be in Oct, to get a site, since they are 1st come, and no reservations are possible. I will be arriving mid week. The most scenic is Goose Island, judging by the description and photos on campsitephotos.com. However, it is the closest to Moab and the BLM site says the closer campgrounds fill up the quickest.

Dead Horse Point SP was also recommended to me. You can make reservations on specific dates for specific slots of dates. This is a possibility and looks very nice, but I really like the idea of camping on the Colo. River.
