Pictures From Recent Factory Tour

Here are some of the pictures we took while going through the factory tour on the 22nd. Plant was live in production during the tour. Last time we attended such was in 2009 and it was at the end of the day so there were just a few employees there.

The first 10 pictures, #12, #15, #17, and #18 relate to builds of BH 3670s. All remaining except #20 that shows a BC 3251 TS being pushed out the door relate to BC 3070REs. (Some pics are a bit blurry - taken with smart phone and sometimes I took too quickly.)

BC 3251 TS's (including ours) were being completed in the am. Ours took about 1.5 days to build - started on the line Friday before.

Just very interesting and impressive.

Nice photos. Maybe this year, at the rally, I'll get to tour the BH line. Last time, we toured the BC line and took a pile of photos.

They build the BH and BC at the same time - appear to do a model at a time. When we took the tour in 2009, they appeared to be building FIFO rather than by model but I could be wrong. During that tour, we saw Landmarks, BH, and BC being built on the same line. However, during both tours a great deal of BH 3670's were being built.

When we toured, they only had BC's in various stages of production and it was a Saturday, so not too much work being done. Still worth seeing again, especially if they have BH's on the line. Having a pile of photos like this (for any of the lines) sometimes helps those with questions that haven't been able to see the stages of production.

Thanks for the pics. We are planning a tour when we go pick up our 3450 in may. Can't wait.

I am surprised that the plant management does not require workers to wear hard hats. I see they are at least wearing safety glasses. I worked in a big production plant when I was young and there was a huge sign on the lunch room door about wearing of safety shoes, ear protection, safety glasses and hard hats. I see a lot of potential for the workers to get their head hit on steel etc. too.

Great pictures though and quite interesting to see the production plant. I take it that this is at Goshen, Indiana.

It's a great tour & really helps with understanding how the rig components come together. We did the tour before we ordered & were able to get our questions & concerns addressed before the building of our BH.
