Believe it or not, at the Richmond race this past weekend, I spotted a GMC 2500 diesel that looked like it was lifted between 4 and 6 inches It was towing a fusion toy hauler that was also lifted. I remarked how unsafe such a combo must be to drive. Then on Sunday morning I saw it flying by me on route 17 doing about 70 in a 45 MPH zone. I can not even think about how steep that loading ramp must be.
In Canada legal height use to be 13'6". I heard it went up? I am 13' 2" so I am OK. What is the legal height in US?
Sometimes, even the posted bridge clearance sign can be wrong. I was in upper New York about 3 years ago and came to a sudden stop because the bridge sign stated the clearance was 12' 11". As I sit there contemplating how I going to back out of that situation and studying that the bridge appeared to be higher than the posted sign stated, a big rig came right on though without slowing down. The trucker announced to me on the CB radio that the sign was wrong and I was clear to go through.
