A report on a Yahoo group I belong to for Thousand Trails says today that the Yosemite Lakes Preserve near Groveland/Yosemite was saved from the fire, although there is burned wildlands all around it. It was reportedly used as a staging area by the firefighters.
Last month's fire on Mt. San Jacinto in Southern California also missed the Idyllwild Thousand Trails Preserve there, too.

Today's news on the 3rd largest fire in California History, has local fire officials saying that it is now believed to have been caused by an illegal marijuana grow site in the forest. The estimated cost to put out the fire is at $47 million right now.

The local TV news had video on the complete destruction of the City of Berkeley campground just a mile from the Thousand Trails Preserve. I guess Thousand Trails there was really lucky.
