Socal Chapter First Rally

Hello to all the Socal Heartland owners. Myself and two other members are trying to get a Socal rally set up. We are open to all suggestions at this point. I know that we have about five members that are close to our location in Socal. We would like to make the first one easy for people not close to us. Some of my suggestions might be "Wilderness Lakes" in Mennifee and is a "Thousand Trails" resort, Vail Lake a general public resort, or maybe the "Pachaga Casino" RV park, it is a very nice place.
Jim would like us set a boundry for the Socal Chapter, I am not sure what it would be at this time, anything south of bakersfield?? We also are not going to exclude anyone who wants to join in the rally, no matter where you are. This a social thing, not a you can only join in if you live in certain areas. If your neighbor has a non heartland product and wants to come along, its OK, I dont care if they have a 1929 Essex with DOHV door handles and a tear drop trailer. We are all about promoting Heartland products, making new friends, and having fun RVing.
Jim has also set a forum for us to use, go to the West US forum, then the "Southern California" part of the rally forums, click on it, it will take you to the sub-forums and use the "discussion" link to post all your remarks. I hope to hear from you all soon.
My name is Bob Hartsell (aka) "Bob&Patty" :D :D:eek:

Howdy Bob, Mr Chairman, glad to have you at the helm. I would suggest that since we are actually experiencing "winter" this year that a CG with hook ups AND fire pit / campfire acomodations would be in order. That might eliminate some of the "concrete" CG's like Pechanga. We will be happy to attend once my ribs get a little better, and we get through the hollidays......Merry Christmas!

Hi Bob,

Since we are TT members, Wilderness Lakes would work for us. I don't believe they have fire rings but do allow fires in approved above ground fire pits. I can't remember last time I was there if wood was OK or presto logs only. Vail Lake would be our second choice. Their website says they have fire rings. Since we are family campers, the casino wouldn't be high on our list but we are willing to go with the majority.

Not sure how far everyone else is from the coast but San Clemente State Beach has full hook-ups (sites 1 - 67 or so), fire rings, is clean ... Depending on the dates you're looking at, they do have openings after the MLK weekend in January and into Feb.

Best of luck putting this together. I look forward to hearing the dates. I hope they fit into our schedule.

Any of those places will work for me. Another one we have gone to is Canyon RV park, just off the 91 FWY. They do groups and have fire pits, but it is on dirt.

Very Funny

Hi Rog, how are you doing?? No more "CRASH and BURNS" for you this year, MISTER:rolleyes: . Just remember Forrest and I also elected YOU!!!! So there "MR ASSISTANT CHAIRMAN". OK guys ,this what I found out today. We can call Wilderness Lakes after January 19th when they reopen. I will call then, but the Lady I talked to said that we could come as a group and would give any "none" member a 4 day free pass. The only catch is you have listen to the 90 min speel. Pacaga does have concrete pads, they are pull throughs and they give group rates. As a thought, nobody has to indulge in the casino part, but they might have some good entertainment that weekend. There is also "wino" country about 5 miles east, and OLD TOWN in temecula, lots shops for the ladies. Vail Lake is about 8 miles east of the 15, has dirt parking, restaurant on site, lake, and fire rings. I dont know of anything farther north but I will keep looking. We are getting a freebe on the 19th of next month at the Colorado River resort in Cherry valley, so while we are there I will check it out. Please all the rest of you well worn travelers find some other places for the people that live farther out and some of us here can go there. Also lets see if we can come up with a boundry so there can maybe be a central Calif. chapter and a Northern chapter. Cause if you think I am going to try do the whole state, you got another think coming.:p LOL Bob:D :D

Bob,

For a boundry, Bakersfield would be a good place to cut it off at. For campin I have stayed at Canyon RV park. It is nice, pretty quiet too even being close to a freeway.

Blown On Fuel

Billd, maybe we can put it on our short list. I like Bakersfield because I would like to get a bunch of old hot rodders to go to the "Smokers" drag strip in either March or November. They only run front engine fuelers, AA/GS, fuel altered and gassers. And they do run at night. You can park right by the strip, but its dry camping. I think the cost is about $150 for the weekend. I just like the smell of "NITRO" in the morning. Bob :D :D
