Illinois Tornado Update - God is Good!!!!

We were truly blessed last Sunday when several tornadoes ripped through the Midwest leaving a trail of destruction. We lost 6 people to the storm and our prayers go out to those families, but the toll could have been much higher given the number and strength of these tornadoes.

The hardest hit area was Washington, IL (near Peoria), but the city of Diamond, IL also took a pounding. We were fortunate too, since we keep our BH3580 at a campground which was about a mile from the area of devastation. There are 600+ sites at our campground and Sunday was closing day for the season. No one was hurt and it doesn’t appear that there was any significant damage to the grounds or RV’s.

Unfortunately, an RV Dealership (EZ Living RV’s), took a direct hit and lost 75+ units. I’ve posted some links below that show the devastation and damage to the RV’s at the dealership. The videos serve as a reminder that we all should have some prior knowledge regarding tornadoes and a PLAN in case we encounter a similar situation. The Red Cross has a smartphone app which gives some pretty good advice and audible warnings. You can set the app to several locations including your current location as you travel.

So are the links…..

Background Info:

RV Dealership - If you look closely as the guy drives past the RV dealership the second time, you will notice that an RV appears to be snagged over a power line. I don’t know if it was thrown that high, but the RV’s aren’t that close to the road and the other units are thrown all over the lot.

Chrome Rack - You will hear a reference to the "Chrome Rack”. That was a bar/sandwich/pizza place that is usually filled with folks watching the Bears game (which was live when the storm hit). The front bar section was destroyed, but the rear warehouse was left damaged but standing. No fatalities or injuries there......amazing.

House on Surveillance Camera - This link shows some time lapse photo’s from a Shell gas station across the street from the house that gets blown over. The house was a vacant model that sat on a concrete slab so there were no injuries.

Tobacco Shop - "Owner Muhammad Ali ran for his life and took cover in a church.” (Christian Life Assembly saved a life…..God is Good!!!).

Mother Nature can be extremely brutal at times. Thank you for posting the video clips close to Thanksgiving as it gives a new meaning to be thankful.
