Dining Room Table

How do I slide the dining room table open, I see the strap on the bottom, that is not attached, but I just try to pull the table open and nothing happens. They never showed me how in the PDI and I didn't even know it existed. Where is the leaf to go in the middle?

If the strap is unhooked, it should just slide apart. The leaf is stored in a hollow space where you open the two halves. If it won't come apart, there may be something (like the leaf) caught in the storage space.
