Bed storage area - gas struts locked in up position??

Went to put some items in the storage area under the bed and when I tried to lower the bed both gas struts were locked in the up position. Couldn't get them to lower so for now I have removed the struts. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If I remember correctly you can pop them off at the bottom but have someone there to hold the bed up - IT'S HEAVY. My struts used to pop off regularly and I just pushed them back on.

It's time to replace them. Many local rv parts stores around here have them in stock, can't say about your area. Take one to them and they'll match up a pair for you.
