Turned on furnace for the first time after getting our Heartland Pioneer TB-27 and it set off the smoke alarms.
had to shutoff the furnace and open the windows and doors to air it out.
is this because the camper is new and there maybe dust in the vents and furnace heater?
how do i prevent this next time?

Re: Furnace sets of smoke alarms

Last week there was another thread about smoke from a new furnace. Quite a few other owners jumped in to report a similar experience. Apparently some dealers run the furnace before delivery and some do not.

I think my furnace was first turned on when the dealer did my PDI. The smoke was noticeable for about 1/2 hour, works fine ever since.

Re: Furnace sets of smoke alarms

I ran my furnace over night after it smoked during the first hour of running. I opened the vents and turned on the fantastic fan. It was clear in the morning when I went to check it. The reading I did led me to believe it was production oils burning off.
