Sway Control

Hi everyone

I am planning on picking up my first travel trailer (28BHS) and have a question for anyone that might enlighten me. The advise I have been given and been reading on the web is a dual cam sway control is the way to go. The dealer told me that I would not need one and if I did get one I would have to remove it anytime you wanted to back up. Other people have told me that you can back up with the sway control attached with no problems. So who is right. Thanks for your help.

I towed a 27' travel trailer behind a one ton ford dually for several years. I only used a friction type sway controller but the trailer towed very nicely and I never had any issues with sway.
And (although like you, I have heard otherwise) I never removed the anti-sway control when backing up and never had any issues nor damage to trailer, hitch, or truck.

We have the dual cam on our present trailer since 2004 and have had no backing issues. Also you will love the HP Dual Cam great unit.
