winterizing the ice maker

Last year I winterized my camper and thought I had blown out the water line to the ice maker. However this spring I found it had frozen and cracked. So...
1. Can I run RV anti-freeze in the ice maker system when winterizing?
2. Is the any tricks our suggestions to properly winterize the ice maker system?

Thanks

Hi Julien17,

Most people avoid anti-freeze in the ice-maker water lines because unlike PEX, it can be hard to get the taste out of the plastic used for the ice-maker lines.

We have some specific winterizing instructions for the Dometic RM1350 included in our Winterization Guide along with a lot of other helpful info.

What make/model of refrigerator do you have?

I include the ice maker in my winterization ritual each year and have no problems getting the antifreeze and associated taste out of the line.
