Snowbird tip

This may be old news to some but I just came across this tip yesterday. When away from the house for a few days or longer, you can tell if your freezer kept things frozen the whole time you were gone by:
Freeze water in a small container. When solidly frozen, place a coin on top of the frozen surface. When you return home and the coin is not still on top of the frozen surface you will know that the freezer was off for an extended time and you should toss the contents.

We do the same but use ice cubes.
