wide body

I'm noticing this coaches are getting very tall in height and its starting to make them feel narrow inside. Is there a chance of making these a true wide body coach in the near future its amazing what an extra 4 inches will do inside a small space...

I think that the legal limit is 102" for anything on any highway. You coach is already 96" now.

"Wide Body"? I think I am seeing a bunch of them show up in the gym since the first of the year. Most won't be there in about two weeks.

Sorry, I could not resist.

apparently the holidays has been good to me too I need the gym myself lol.... this being said 100 inches are usually what upper end coaches are like my current coach. It's hard to lose the width when you've had it before in these coaches

Yes the Landmark 365s are 96 inches wide. They have to stay 96 inches in order to keep within the 430 square feet. If they go wider that means a shorter coach.

I believe that is the max for an RV 5th wheels to be towed on the highways according to RVIA. I am not sure but if you go over that you may have to have an escort and permits.
I will check with someone tomorrow and let you know for sure.

RVIA won't allow us to build coaches over 430 sq ft. DRV builds bigger coaches that are not RVIA certified but up to the purchase of DRV Thor legal would not allow us to build out of the RVIA specs.

102" wide vs 96" wide - ah the great debate. Go with 102" and the coach gets shorter and/or the slide boxes get shallower - go 96" and the coach gets longer and slide boxes deeper in most cases. I'm to tired to list all the pros and cons of each but we have some savvy people on this forum and I'm sure it will be debated. It's like chocolate and vanilla however - regardless of what you say you can make a great argument for either.

I can can assure you however as long as LM365 stays where it is it will remain a 96" wide coach.

Have a great evening.

Thanks,
Tom

When we were shopping for our current fiver, we actually put the Landmark next to a wide body DRV of a similar size and floorplan. We spent the day going back and forth between the two...after awhile it dawned on me, that even though the DRV was wide body, the Landmark actually looked and felt larger. Even took the salesman back and forth and he said the same thing...was a deciding factor in choosing the Landmark.

In the case of DRV they do 3" walls which takes up most of the space gained. 6" of sidewall total vs the LM at 4" of sidewall thickness. In my opinion it really doesn't make a noticeable difference but again - chocolate and vanilla - both are delicious - which one is best? Nobody knows. It's a personal preference.

Finally going to bed. Love the discussion and enjoy learning and understanding different perspectives.

Long gone are the days of Teton and Travel supreme dodging the 430 square foot rule by measuring square footage with slides in. I didnt think the newport was pushing the envelope on 430 sq ft so close what is the exact measurement on that unit?

This was also our exact feeling as well when comparing the DRV to the HL Landmark. our old unit was 101" and we don't find our Landmark any narrower at all as a result of deeper slideouts.
