ATF: North Trail - Trailer Brake Setting on tow vehicle

I have a 2013 Heartland North Trail Caliber 22FBS. I am towing with a 2015 RAM 2500 4X$ Crew Cummins Diesel with built in trailer brake. I have four options for setting the trailer brake: Light Electric, Heavy Electric, Light Electric over Hydraulic, and Heavy Electric over Hydraulic. Which should I use to pull this trailer with my tow vehicle? Thanks.

The RAM 2500/3500 manual say that if the trailer is under 10k use the light setting. Your brakes should just be electric and not hydraulic. I would start with a gain of 5 to 5.5 and test and adjust up or down from there by testing it to find the setting that works best for your set up.

We have a 2013 Heartland Trail Runner, which weighs around 7100 pounds (just had it weighed last month), which I tow with a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD.

I set the built-in trailer brake of the Chevy Silverado at 3.5 . . . and is perfect for our trailer!

Just enough drag without locking up the tires . . .
