General Pre-Rally Pictures

Share your 2015 National Rally pictures in this thread. If you couldn't make the rally, feel free to browse and see what all we're doing here.

I'll start with some general, around-the-grounds pictures.

Amish Country Tour - Rise'n Roll Bakery

The Amish Country Tour was fabulous. We learned a great deal about the Amish and Mennonites and got to meet several that have different businesses. Of course, shopping was fun, as well.

The group:

Amish Country Tour - Dutch Country Market

The Dutch Country Market had excellent peanut butters and jumbo jelly beans, among other great treats.

Amish Country Tour - Guggisberg Cheese

The Guggisberg Cheese shop had a lot of tasty cheeses and, of course, plenty of samples:

After we left the cheese shop, we spotted this Amish father mowing the grass with his sleeping child alongside him in a car seat on the mower deck:

Amish Country Tour - Amish Buggy Builder

We stopped to visit a young Amish gentleman that builds buggies. He is apparently pretty popular as he indicated he currently has a year and a half backlog of orders.

Amish Country Tour - Around the Yoder Home

We stopped and had lunch at the Yoder home (same Yoders that served us dinner on Saturday). Here are some random pictures from around their home.

You see a lot of these pulley-driven clotheslines strung between homes and distant structures. They can hang a lot of clothes out and just reel them back in when they are done.

Amish Country Tour - Camel Milk Farm

Here was an interesting stop. This gentleman raises camels to collect the milk. The milk is apparently used for people with autism and also favored by middle eastern people who are in the states. He gets about $8 a pint for the milk. Note that the camel baby still gets its share of milk - only the excess is collected and sold. They also made soap and ice cream from some of the milk and made both available for our tour.

Sunday Afternoon Meet and Greet (and Eat)

This afternoon there was a pitch-in finger food meet and greet at Nelson's Pavilion. Big turnout.

Of course, there is food. It is a HOC rally, isn't it?

Big crowd.

Thanks for the pics. We have never been to a rally and it looks like fun. Also allows those of us that have never been to Goshen an idea the sites in the park. So if we ever do make it to one of these events we will have a better visualization of where we might want to pick for a site. Again, thanks.
