We completed our vacation plans for the year and it looks like the Ohio rally will be the only one that works out for us. We are excited as this is a great KOA and location. They have a nice pool area and close to several area attractions. In checking the campgrounds website it appear also that the Decades band will be there on Saturday night. They play music from the 50's,60's and 70's. We have seen them a couple times at this KOA and always a lot of fun. Look forward to seeing everyone. We'll follow back up with you bob when we make reservations in April when the park opens.

Update on registering for the Ohio Heartland Rally. We can do it now!

You can either call the Dayton KOA @ 937.833.3888 (ask for Candy) or use the KOA website (http://koa.com/campgrounds/dayton/). Either way, tell Candy you're with the Ohio Heartland Group or on the website under "SpecialRequests", type in Ohio Heartland Group so that we'll be placed together.

Obviously, the earlier you register the closer we can be together.

The deposit cost will be $57.52, and the discount will be taken off your final amount you pay when you arrive (based on the number of rigs we have attend).

Let me know when you've registered!

My wife and I are planning to come also. Is there any benefit to buying a VKR membership?

That's great to hear!

Re the VKR membership, it really depends on how often you're going to be staying at a KOA in the coming year -- you'll get 10% off throughout the year.

As far as our rally, you'll receive 10% off your rate if we have at least 10+ rigs, and you'll make 8.

Hope that helps. Glad to hear you're considering our Ohio Heartland Chapter Rally.

Just received word that the new hangar at the Air Force Museum will be open to the public 8 June.

The world’s largest military aviation museum is getting bigger! Be one of the first to visit the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force’s new fourth building, which opens to the public on June 8, 2016. See more than 70 aircraft in four new galleries -- Presidential, Research & Development, Space and Global Reach. You can board a space shuttle, walk through four presidential aircraft, look inside cargo planes, enjoy new educational opportunities in three STEM Learning Nodes and much more -- all with FREE admission and parking!

Just heard from Denny & Peggy (https://heartlandowners.org/member.php/11324-BuckeyeTravelers) and they're in! Very happy that so many people are making the Ohio Rally a part of their travel plans.

I talked to Tammy from the campground. They still have availability but the "bigger sites for the bigger rigs" are filling up and there's no guarantee where everyone will be.

Also, their pavilion has a band for Saturday night so we've been squeezed out of there for the potluck. We will look at lots when we get there and decide where we'll hold our potluck.

I've updated the schedule on the first post (again). Over a month out, and I'm still tweaking. At least I haven't printed them yet.

Added my famous, award winning (awards are cheap -- my wife likes them) breakfast burritos & coffee to Friday morning before the National Museum of the US Air Force (http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/) at Wright Patt tour. These will be good to throw down prior to the car pool to the museum.

So....... I need to begin a head count for Friday morning breakfast and the WPAF Museum. Opens at 9a, return time is on your own. Although, I'll be doing an ice cream social at 4p ET. (Which would you rather do? Culture & history or free ice cream?)

PM me or reply to this thread to let me know your plans for Friday when you know them.

Had a few folks ask about these pillow covers, so thought I'd post this here if that's ok. The cover size is 18 x 18 inches. Pillow inserts are also available. The Commander can help you customize yours. She says if you order by the 30th of July she can hand deliver it to you at the Ohio rally. :) Please message her if interested https://heartlandowners.org/member.php/23896-SweetP

Hello all,
Just curious if you have filled all of the sites. We are looking to see if we may be able to join, as we are only 30miles away. May be tough as local schools start up this week and my wife is a teacher.
Any info would be great.
Have a great evening.

Hi Andy

Registration is open until end of the day 7/19 based on the information Bob posted in the first post of this thread. I believe you just call the campground make reservation letting them know you are with heartland rally then let Bob know your attending. Hopefully you all can make it.

Andy,

The information Keith & Kim gave you was correct. Give them a call and see if you can get in there. We've had a cancellation recently, so there might even be that site available.

Let us know what you find out.

P.S. If Andy is coming, I'll put on the agenda a separate time for talk about the Vols. Talking points: How over rated they're going to be this year, over under on number of arrests that will go unpunished, should Butch stay or go, what happens if App State goes into Neyland and wins the first game, the beauty of a schedule where you never leave the state the size of Tennessee for 9 of 12 games. Let me know if there are other things I should add.

Terrific! In case you didn't scroll all the way down, here's the link to their vinyl products website (http://www.vinylyourway.com).

Ice Cream Social is at 4p. Now that I know you're coming, I'll adjust my quantities accordingly.

So, wife and I have owned a heartland TT, since 2012. Our new fifth wheel will be picked up on the 26th. I have a few questions. We have never been to a rally. We are interested in going. Are the rallies family friendly, we have a 4 month old? Is there Mix of crowed? Or all retired folks that enjoy camping. I just am wondering be for we are reservations. Thanks... Ron Russell (https://heartlandowners.org/member.php/28445-Titanguy) from Performance Trailer Braking (http://www.performancetrailerbraking.com) will be giving a Disc Brake Conversion and Trailer Tire seminar that he has been doing at other Heartland Rallies on Friday after our Ice Cream Social Welcome party before our optional dinner.

He is not planning on having his installers but they will have Disk Brake Conversion Specials plus Tire & Wheel upgrade specials for the rallies.

I have updated the itinerary on page 1.

Ron contacted me yesterday:

I have had a family emergency come up and will not be able to attend the Rally.

Great to hear you're coming, and sorry you're not going to be able to bring your fur babies. That list is not uncommon in our travels, and unfortunately, because some Pits, Dobies and Rotties are NOT good canine citizens which is why parks have had to single out the breeds.

I also noticed you haven't applied for membership in the Heartland Owners Club (https://heartlandowners.org/club/join-the-club/). Now would be great time to enjoy the benefits of membership. Dues are $35 for a year, which is only $15 more than non members have to pay to attend our rally. Those dues provide UNLIMITED access to rallies across the country, including the Goshen National Rally next year. All of the details are included in the link.

It's in site 9 and that is my spot. The KOA has assigned everyone their site, but whether they told everyone or not I don't know.

I'll be calling them on Monday with some details and getting everyone's site assignment. If I have time, I'll post it. Either way, there will definitely be a list in your "goodie" bag that we'll have for you.

I'm not going to lie: I'm starting to panic. June, July and up to now in August, we've had dry and 90's. It's raining HARD again today.

My biggest concern is the potluck. I envisioned gathering at picnic tables, under canopies. I also envisioned dry ground and sunny skies. I'm worried about using the Club money to buy food and supplies for a potluck that has every chance of being a disaster.

Open to your thoughts, this is your rally.

Don't panic Bob. If you feel that a high probability of disaster exists, and it's not worth the money or effort I have no problem with you calling it off. On the other hand perhaps the meal could still be located at a central location, and folks could still go there to get their meal, and go back to their own, or others area. (I know the Commander will have zero problem sending me out in the rain for food). You know the weatherman though, he changes the forcast every three hours. I would be obliged if you could let me know your decision by 6 pm though, or I'll be eating pasta salad twice a day for the next 2 weeks. :)

most importantly, the friendships that were rekindled and just begun.

Best wishes to everyone, we hope to see you down the road and for sure at the Ohio Chapter Rally in 2017. (https://heartlandowners.org/showthread.php/61710-EVENT-Heartland-Chapter-Rally-OH-TBA-8-18-2017-to-8-20-2017)

The look your son gives you when you tell him the Ohio rally is over and the next one is a year awayhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160822/db7131565a207f6c43960a7469340424.jpg

Big thank you to Bob & Connie for all their hard work, and making this a fantastic rally. We really had a great time. Wish I had not been so hesitant in the past on attending a rally. Everyone was great, and treated us as if we were old friends. In fact, we had such a good time that the Commander and I are trying to juggle some dates so we can get in another rally this year! Also big kudos to those who helped the fellow Heartlander whose rig had issues. OUTSTANDING! We look forwarding to seeing you ALL again, and hope that everyone had a safe trip home, or to their next destination. :)

Did I mention we had a lot of great food too! 47269

That pic is adorable. We feel the same way, but we aren't as cute as Greyson.
