Northern California HOC Members:

How many would be interested in having a non-sanctioned "Campout" get-together weekend next April in the Oroville/Redding general area? I am only picking April because the NorCal HOC chapter rally was always held in April. I miss seeing everybody. I have some ideas for campgrounds from my experiences with the NorLows singles camping group in the area. We could always try to use the Feather Falls Casino KOA in Oroville again, or I have ideas for less plush campgrounds near Corning, in Redding, or Hat Creek (near Mt. Lassen). I have ideas for sightseeing trips from my NorLows experiences.

Since it is less than 12 months to April 2016, reservations may be hard to find. To make the campout viable, I think we would need at least 10 rigs. The last NorCal HOC Rally at Oroville in 2013 only had 3 rigs.

So what say you???????

Depending on our work/vacation schedule, Kelly and I might be able to make it Bill, but we won't know till January what schedule and vacation availability will be. We will keep checking in. If this gains traction let me know and I will create an event for it and have you be the Event Wagon Master.

The ones we attended in Oroville were held in March during the Oregon Schools spring break.

Faulty memory. That gives 1 less month to get it organized. April 2016 has 5 weekends to choose from. Either way is fine for me, I just need a show of interest to start checking out sites.

We would probably go if it was the weekend of the 12th and 13th. We could hit it on our way home from Arizona for the winter.

Bill,
We would certainly take a look at this, will watch and see how things develop. Feather Falls would be good.

I will give this about a month on the forum for at least 10 "maybe's" to be posted, otherwise the time to get reservations will be getting too short, and we will forget it.

We are interested, especially if it at the Hat Creek Hereford Ranch camp ground. I have been camping there since I was a little boy. (Pushing 45 years) Kathy the owner and her family are wonderful people. Peggy Bidwell runs the camp ground for her. They are all very good friends of ours. There is also a Hat Creek camp ground down the road that I'm not a fan of. However we are in wherever you put together.

Jess:
Thanks for the reply. I haven't stayed at that campground, my NorLows group stayed at the Rancheria RV park twice while I was with them. Weather at that altitude might be questionable in the first quarter of the year, but we can roll with the punches short of heavy snow.
I am wearing my "Hat Creek Radio Observatory" T shirt right now. Maybe with the new SETI funding they will re-open it, and we can do a tour.

So I will put the "maybe" count at 4 now.

Bill - You can count us in. We live in the Oroville area and have been wishing for a Northern Calif gathering. If I can help any, let me know.

One of the best times we ever had was at the "State of Jefferson" campout that Ziggy and SLmayor (Kristy and Deb) put on in Yreka!

I count 5 "Maybe's" including me on this thread which has been on the forum for a month. I don't think that is enough interest to go ahead with planning/short notice reservations.

Maybe the old NorCal HOC chapter should consolidate with the Central California chapter.

Sorry for getting anyone's hopes up.

Re: Possible Northern California Unofficial Campout

Hi All -

Sheri and I could be in too. We have a couple of things towards the end of the month happening, but would always consider a boon doggle to the Shasta-Trinity area

We, frequently get up to the Lassen, Shasta-Trinity area. The Lassen area usually, does not open until end of May, however.

We have found one of our favored choices, when we go this direction is Antlers RV Resort and Campground. I linked the web site for reference. The upper loop accommodates the big beast RV's like ours too. Antlers could give you some leisure, fishing, and boating options.
