New Mexico Chat Room....
I am starting this chat room thread in an effort to get some response among the NM Chapter Members towards Chapter Rally's and other events. This thread is a great way for the NM Chapter members to get involved and express what you would like in future events.

Since New Mexico does not currently have a Chapter Leader, I am planning a NM Rally for May 5-8 2016 & 15 sites.
Initially considering Elephant Butte, however one of the chapter members suggested America RV Resort in Albuquerque.
I have contacted both resorts and will stop at each on my way to the Colo Rally next month.
Elephant Butte is a very nice park and we would be able to hold activities within their events room. However all sites will not be next to each other as they are mostly sold out. Surrounding activities are limited.
America RV appears to be a very nice park as well. They have not opened the calendar for 2016 so space is in question. The negative as I can see is the location adjacent to I40 and not sure how the traffic noise will be in the evenings.

Let me know you thoughts....this Rally will be open to all HOC Members....come out and support us getting the NM Chapter off the ground. If you have other suggestions for a location, let me know as this is just the planning stage.

Thanks Double G Ranch! We would prefer the America RV in Albuquerque due to the remoteness of Elephant Butte. We are still employed and can't get away for the time it would take us to go to Elephant Butte. We hope to someday as we are told it is beautiful.

Not In New Mexico, but could be close enough to visit a NM event when we can. May is not likely for us, though. Gary, you might get some West Texas members to attend, if you can contact them.

We liked the Santa Fe KOA, but not sure what kind of meeting space they have. Angel Fire has a brand new upscale RV resort, I'm not sure it's even fully open yet, but might be worth looking into.

Hi Garry,

Being in southern Colorado, we might be able to join a New Mexico rally. Shorter drives work better for us though. I doubt we'd make it to Elephant Butte.

And I've been meaning to look at west New Mexico in the mountains to see if there is anything there.

Ruidoso is a great place to visit... We've stayed at Circle B RV park in Ruidoso Downs. They are large enough for a rally and have a meeting room. There are other parks, but not as big-rig friendly. I think there was a HL rally a few years ago at another park in Ruidoso, can't recall the name now.

Lots to do and see in Ruidoso as well. Shopping, museums, plus a casino and 2 golf courses.

Yes! We've not been when horse racing was going on, but definitely a possibility. The Museum of the Horse is quite interesting.

New Mexico Chapter Rally Planning:
May 5-8 2016.....15 sites (initially)

We have had a lot of PM's and emails on site suggestions for this Rally. I have found only one venue that has fully opened their arms for the dates we are looking at.
The three site considered are:
1. Elephant Butte RV Resort......Can't block space together, but they will allow us to use the Rec hall....
2. America RV Resort in ABQ......unable to obtain space as their 2016 calendar is not available....heavy traffic just off I-40, possible noise problem late in the evenings
3. Rose Valley RV Park Silver City.....Will block space, allow full use of the "Barn" rec room, with full kitchen facilities for our pot luck...will block 11 pull thru and 4 back in sites. Lots of surrounding area activities and hiking. One mile trail from the park for walking dogs. Discounts for our group as follows: 5-10 rigs = 15%, 11-20 =20%, 21 & above = 25%. Current rates are: $38 pull thru $34 back in. full hook ups.

I have not contacted the RV Resort in Angel Fire yet. Their prices will be substantially higher if that makes any difference to attendees.

Okay....it's back to you, let me know what you think so far for the Site selection for the next NM Rally.

At one time Rose Valley RV Park was the number one RV park in Silver City. In the last few years the facility has deteriorated tremendously which is typical of absentee ownership. Camped on top of a butte in Southern NM during the windy season is challenging at best. I'm sure American RV will work with you regarding the schedule. We have camped there on numerous occasions and highway noise was not an issue. You really should make a site inspection of all candidates prior finalizing any arrangements. When you have the location selected my wife and I will help you local activities, restaurants, etc.

Thanks and yes I intend to make a site inspection on all. I have not selected any site as I am waiting for everyone's input...Where do You as NM Members want to go, I will just help facilitate it for you. I did call the Silver city site and they have recently remodeled the resort according to the gal. Their new web site will be up in a few weeks as well.
I am totally flexible as to what you all want to do....Thanks for the great comments.

This event is not in New Mexico. There is Silver City and they have a great blues festival that is around Memorial day each year. Highly recommend it.

I'd be in for Ruidoso as it's fairly close ... Silver is on the other side of state so probably not going to happen, I work so would also have to check on days off etc...
