cabinet modification

I have a cabinet in my kitchen slide that I want to modify by cutting it back a few inches. I have a friend who thinks it will compromise the slide integrity. (I don't).
Am I right?

While there's no doubt that some weight of the ceiling of the slide room rests on the top of that cabinet, I doubt cutting it back a few inches will be of any consequence. Consider getting a second opinion from someone who can see it first-hand.

Can you give us an idea on how you are going to do this mod?
Pull the cabinet and cut off the back edges?
Looking at your picture it doesn't look like the cabinet runs up to the ceiling so I doubt it will affect the structure.

I want to remove the face frame & cut back one side & the divider shelf. Then put an appliance garage piece in the bottom section.

So if I understand correctly you want to make the face of the cabinet straight across instead of on an angle and then have an appliance garage on the bottom and a cabinet on top?
Doable, but looks like a job best left for a cabinet maker.
If you do this mod please post some before and after pictures.

Peace
Dave
