Second surge protector needed?

LM 365 comes with a combination transfer switch/surge protector. I have a surge protector plugged into the shore power box and then plug the 50 amp power cable into that surge protector.

Do I really need to have two surge protectors or can I lose the one plugged into the shore power box?

It would depend on what your plug in device does.
Some will protect from under and over current as well as a surge.
The one that comes with your rig is only a basic surge device.
I would probably use the plug in device over the OEM device, but then again it's all about the protection provided.

They both give different types of protection. I have both, but I wired the one for the post inline between xfer switch and main distribution panel. It was easy to do bought male and female ends and cut into the feed from the xfer switch to the main panel and plug the surge gaurd in line. You still have protection from both and a two and a half minute delay before power is sent to the RV
