Kitchen Recepticle ( heat damage)

My wife loves the single gang recepticle in the Kitchen area of are Augusta model trailor

But beware

She hs placed a bread toaster on the counter right below the plug in , hence she toast some bread and pushes the toaster back agaist the wall for storage and the heat rose and melted the "cheapy cover for the electrical plug in

I will replace soon the cover , but wanted eveyone to know about the hazard

Brent,

Consider using a painted metal wall plate as a replacement. You may have to change out the receptacle to fit the standard wall plates as the RV receptacles may be different.

The metal wall plate should hold up against the warm toaster. The plastic receptacle may not.

I would be more concerned about where the hot items are placed rather than replacing a plastic receptacle with a metal one, if the toaster is that hot to melt plasitc............it could melt other items nearby, including vinyl wall covering, etc.

Maybe melted is to strong a word, lets say warped the plastic.

Heat will rise, it just so low clearance there and yes I have looked for any other damage. Maybe a should cut her back to a two slice machine, lol

on to the bagels

Will replace with a metal cover soon
