It's definitely a DIY.
Depending on the flow rate of the pump, they are priced from about $100 to $200+.

Hi neal57simpson,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum.

RV water pumps start under $100 and go up to several hundred dollars. They're pretty easy to replace. The hardest part of the job is locating and accessing the pump. On larger 5th wheels, it's behind the pass through storage rear wall, near the water connections. I don't know the location on North Trails.

The Shurflo and Flojet pumps I've worked with are interchangeable. The water lines have 1/2" swivel fittings that screw onto the pump. They have 12 V DC motors connected with 2 wires. Remove the wire nuts to disconnect existing wires. There are typically 4 mounting screws.

I replaced my Shurflo 5 GPM pump with a Flojet 4.5 GPM variable speed pump. $238 last year from Amazon.com.

Before buying a new pump, get the label information from your current pump and call the pump manufacturer. They usually only have a 1 year warranty, but sometimes they'll replace an older unit depending on what's wrong.

There's also an inline fuse near the pump that could be blown, check that also.
