Induction stove amps?

How many amps are the induction stove tops? Can you run stove, AC, Convection Oven and other stuff on 30 amp service? The Lake we go to most often only has 30 amp service.

Thanks for the help

Hi david5311,

Induction stove top, microwave convection, air conditioners, coffee pot, each draw 14-20 amps. You'll have to carefully manage electrical usage to fit within a 30 amp supply. The Power Converter is also drawing power all the time, so you won't actually have 30 amps available. If your coach has a residential refrigerator, that'll consume 6-8 amps when the compressor runs.

If you plan on having 30 amp service most of the time, you probably want a gas range as opposed to induction. And a gas absorption refrigerator running on propane will also reduce the load. Running the water heater on propane will be essential.

If you're looking at a Landmark 365, it comes with a Power Control System that will assist you by shedding loads automatically when you try to use more power than is available.

Induction cook tops are efficient, but use a lot of current. A four section induction stove top can use 32 amps alone. That is with all four going at the same time. The AC unit will very a little depending on model/BTU and manufacture. Think 15 amps or less. You cannot use some hair dryers and the microwave at the same time with 30 amps. It all depends on how much power the hair dryer uses. The stove top, AC unit, convection oven, and all your other stuff's specifications needs to be looked up. Then you can have an educated guess at how much you are using. I assume you have a confection/microwave oven? Our microwave uses 15 amps. I have never used the convection oven in ours. Unless you have a way to measure the current each device uses, it is a guessing game. Looking up the manufactures specifications of all the equipment that you are going to use at least gives you a good idea. You should have the manufactures and the model numbers of the devices you have. You may have some of them in your paper documents that came with your rig. Also there are other things that draw on the 30 amp power like the converter as it charges your battery or runs the lights.

If you had an internal Progressive RV Power Surge Protector with monitor, you could monitor the current you were using. It would be better to measure the current and protect you RV from over/under and voltage surges. There will be no guessing. Do you have an external surge protector? Some of them have voltage and current meters on them. You could turn one thing on at a time and see what each draws and make a list. This is the game we play when we are restricted to 30 amps. Think "GREEN ACRES". It is getting used to how much you can run and then run in sequence when on 30 amp service.
