New 3950 can't get TV sound thru Stereo

My wife and I just took delivery yesterday on an 09 - 3950, everything went great, except, no one and I do mean no one (they tried everybody from the manager on down at the dealership) could get the TV audio to pass thru the Stereo system, we all pushed and prodded on every button on every device, and also read the literature , I can't find anything labeled "AUX" on the Jensen receiver, anybody know the secret code to do this //heartlandowners.org/images/icons/icon5.gif

Thanks,
Jim & Sina Gibson

Try the top right button marked MODE. My TV works in surround sound when this is set on AV IN 1. You can either leave the TV speakers up or turn them down. Each push of this MODE button switches from TUNER, AV IN 1, AV IN 2, and keeps repeating this sequence.

FWIW - when set on AV IN 2, I can plug my iPod in the port on the right of the display screen and listen to it. Hope this helps.

I have the Olevia TV and don't know whether I had set it on something special or not. If you have the same TV, I can check if this doesn't work for you. However it is set now, I leave it like that! :)

Maybe this will help. 1st check the green light on the amp that it is on. 2nd go to the mode button on the reciever. Continue hitting mode button until display shows speaker on/off. put on (on) position then hit mode one more time it will show internal amp mode. Make sure it is on the (on) position. You should then have sound.

I may be reading the first message wrong and I do have a different system but I had the same problem I think. What I hear you saying is you can not get the TV audio to play through the surround. I have the same problem, DVD's and CD's work fine but over the air TV will not work. I have an '09 Bighorn with a Jenson TV but not receiver, I think it is Samsung but what I found is there is only one set of AV jacks on the receiver and they are OUT to the TV for DVD playing. I will have to buy a new receiver with input and output jacks to allow the TV to play through the surround. Not a good choice of receivers when the TV picks up HD signals and quality sound. I may have it backwards in your case but figured I'd add my two cents. (probably worth a penny) lol

Well folks,
I tried ALL of your suggestions which were greatly appreciated, sadly it was all for naught, soooooooo, it is now a warranty problem for my dealer, they'll just have to call the factory and get some training and then they can eiter fix and/or properly program the darn thing and then teach this old dog how to run it, it is just to hot in Houston to mess with something that I've owned for 2 whole days, but, thanks again for all the help, I did not mention but probably should have that my system is all Jensen, TV, Amp, Tuner et al..

many thanks,

I really have to believe that it is not designed that way. The TV tuner isn't part of the surround system, so you will have to see if the TV has an audio out connector on it and use an extra input to the surround system. I have never seen a system where what you are looking for works without doing the above.

If you ever run through Wyoming, you can stop by and I will set it up for you. :D

Deepsky, Where in Wyoming are you located? I'm heading from OKC to Douglas, next Monday - after I get home from Branson! Supposed to be in Douglas until October. :)

I picked up a Razor 3612 a few weeks ago with an all Jenson system. Dealer told me that the TV is not hooked up through the stereo. messed with it and he is right. Was told it can be done, but the problem is everything is ecured and you can't get to the back. When I have some time, I will mess with it.

I had the same problem and finally was able to figure out the problem.

You will need to find the TV monitor audio output jacks and route an audio cable from the TV audio output jacks to the stereo audio in /aux jacks ( if not already connected?) Also, on most TV/ LCD monitors, you'll need to go to the menu screen and find the audio selections. Select Audio output mode - On, off or On Adjustable. If you want the Audio to only come from the surround sound, then select on. If you want audio that is volume adjustable from the remote, select on-adjustable. You'll find you will need to keep the volume settings up high on the TV in order to hear it through the surround sound /stereo system.

Well Folks,
It's fixed!!! - I decided to see if my college education of 40 + years ago was still worth anything, soooo, I tore into this rascal and found that it was a cabling error (not Heartlands fault). It seems that the labels on the TV for the Audio & Video comesinta's and the goesoutta's are incorrect, I simply moved the audio cables on the TV to the Audio in plugs and now have surround sound from the TV to the tuner, I also moved the Video cable on the TV to the Video out plug and now have DVD from the tuner to the TV. so for the record books YES the 3950 all Jensen system will provide surround sound audio from TV. Thanks to everyone for your inputs that was the push I needed to tackle this myself.

I have a 1 week old 2009 3950. I too had the same problem. Traced it back to the Jensen 32" TV. I purchased a Sony TV, hooked it up and what do you know, IT WORKS. I contacted Jim May where I purchased the Cyclone, and the extended warranty, and still NO PHONE CALL.
Check out my other post on Direct TV to read the wiring problems.

it doesn't seem right that you have to be an engineer to figure the stereo/TV/everything else out. OUr neighbour is a stereo specialist and while he was able to show us how to turn off the outside speakers, he couldn't really tell us much else. Maybe I'll give hima six pack and a couple of hours to see what he comes up with.

Talked to the dealer today. They also said it was the TV. Get this, I purchased the extended warranty with this $70,000.00 plus toyhauler and they said they would not pay my shipping to send the TV back to them for warranty. Just a warning, Jim May's dealership in Findly Ohio does not put forth the extra effort to help customers.

Miswired?

We have the Coby Surround and the Olevia flatscreen. I was a career electronics technician. I found the audio output jacks on the TV were wired to audio Output (NOT INPUT) jacks on the surround sound. Replugged the surround sound connection to the input jacks and it worked.
I wish Heartland would hire RV owners as QA inspectors. I can't believe something as simple and common as this isn't on a QA checkoff form.
