If you want to see something that most people never see in their lifetime, there will be a total solar eclipse passing across the US on Aug 21, 2017. Remember that the path of totality is very narrow, so you have to be in the right place. The path of extends from Oregon to South Carolina, going over Salem, Idaho Falls, Grand Tetons, Casper, Lincoln, Kansas City, St Loius, Nashville, southern part of Smokie Mountain NP, then down to Charleson. Remember to get "eclipse" glasses to safely view the eclipse.
Here are a few links if you want more information about where to go to view the eclipse.

I experienced the 1970 East Coast Solar eclipse in a neat place to experience this. I was stationed in the Navy at Naval Security Group Activity Northwest south of Norfolk in vast acreage within the Great Dismal Swamp area of Chesapeake, Va. on the North Carolina border. When the eclipse happened all of the multitude of bird sounds quieted down and there was a special stillness as a perceived nightfall covered the land. A special experience of a lifetime.

I guess I have another reason to go to Oregon next summer.

I think you guys just need to come camp in the back yard. The point marked as greatest eclipse could not cross any closer to the yard. I will have to mark that date on my calendar. Hmmmm.. How many campers can I fit in that 5 acres and for only a minimal charge (LOL).
