Additional Info:
------------------------------
Join us for the April 2017 Rally near Gettysburg PA where in 1863 the epic Battle of Gettysburg occurred. Civil War history abounds. Historic downtown homes and shops, wineries, breweries, restaurants, etc.
As for the rates (see rate sheet attached) the CG has a weekend nightly rate and a week day nightly rate so depending on the number of nights reserved the rate may be a "blended" nightly rate which will also include a local tax (tourist town) of $2.60. These are the 2016 rates and not guaranteed. 2017 rates are TBD. Be sure to specify you're with the HOC to reserve a site and receive the discounted rates.
No pet or breed restrictions. The typical rules apply. There is a large yard area for their activities.
There is WiFi but...you know how that goes!!
There are a number of on-site activities such as mini-golf, shuffle board, horseshoes, playground, CG store, firewood, etc.
Typical Club agenda will apply. Nancy and I have a draft meal plan in mind which we will confirm after the first of the year and well in advance of the rally.
If folks want T-shirts, (SEE POST #73, 83, 108, 130, 180) there is a design floating around in my head, so I'll get that posted out here as well and we'll see what interest we may have.

Agenda added.
Heartland Gives Back, American Cancer Society. SEE Post #69 & 178

Saturday evening's meal will be hosted by General Pickett's Buffets, 571 Steinwehr Avenue, Gettysburg, PA 17325 http://www.generalpickettsbuffets.com/

Ok. Set things up as your schedule dictates.
You're just too cautious. Tour buses and other large jitneys make it ok. If a semi goes there, I go there. How do you think I got there from Rt 15? The BH ain't got wings!!

Hey Ira,
Let me give you a little bit of a warning. These rallies can become addictive. So come at your own risk. LOL. One leads into two, two into three and then it's all downhill.

See ya soon.

OK. As we were discussing via text, no discount applied. We should be getting 15% off the daily rates (may be blended) before the local tax is applied. Nancy and I will be visiting with the owner/manager between now and then so I'll remind him to check each reservation for accuracy.
Thanks Dave

17 attendees and the rally is SEVEN months away still!!! WOW!
21 sites were set aside for our rally. In recent days I've heard from several that they are hoping to attend but unsure at this time. Their concern then is "will there still be sites" when they decide? YES, YES!!!!
Just confirmed with the CG owner the number of sites as of today will not be restricted. However, late registrants may not necessarily be close to the main body of ralliers or have the site amenities desired.

Update---The CG office is still open from now until 11/20. After that it will be closed until 1/3/17 after which someone will be available a few hours per week to address reservation requests.
So anyone planning to attend I'd suggest waiting until after the first of the year then be patient awaiting someone to return your call.

Hi! What Jon says. Call the CG, they're open from 9-3 during the winter. If no one answers, leave a message. Tell them your with the Heartland group. They'll assign you a site and take your deposit.
Your profile indicates you are not yet a member of the HOC but that's ok. You can enjoy the festivities for a non-member fee of $20.

I wanted to share the information that the Campground appears to be filling up and I'm sorry to say that I waited to long to book. We finally figured out our schedules would allow us to swing the dates so I just called to reserve a site, but there is only one 50 amp site left at the campground that could fit our camper, site A. Unfortunately I don't want to stay at a site right next to the dumpster, so hopefully we'll catch up to everyone at a different Rally or next year!

But didn't Fiat just get hit with an emissions law suit like VW.
The EPA has announced some kind of filing on certain Fiat/Chrysler diesel vehicles because there's some software they say could affect emissions and they say it wasn't disclosed as required by law. Fiat/Chrysler says the claim is complete nonsense - just normal engine software. I'm sure more will be revealed soon.

We do know that we could camp on just 30 amps, but we just purchased this camper in the end of October and have only had it out twice. Our first time out the shower faucet leaked, unfortunately it was positioned directly over top of the converter so that died and it was an interesting weekend when we lost all 12 volt power. It took us 3 weeks to get the camper back from the dealer and we squeezed in the second trip, which was just a short 3 night trip to Hershey the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Since we haven't really had a chance to use it, we'd prefer to be connected to 50 amps for a few trips before we reduce down to 30 amps.

travelin2
01-26-2017, 05:34 PM
Sorry to hear that but losing a converter certainly shouldn't deter you from hooking up to 30a regardless of the number of trips or your destination.
Either way maybe you'll be able to attend a rally another time, another place!!

Additionally, the CUT-OFF date for T-shirt orders is SATURDAY, MARCH 18TH. (See Posts,#73, 83, 108, & 130 for details) Just prior to that date, a recap of the order will be posted for your individual approval.

Some further UPDATES...
Good News, No one needs to cook! No potluck this weekend as General Pickett's Buffet will be hosting our Saturday night meal (Details at the rally). Without a specific agenda yet, we can also say we'll have something to warm your belly Friday evening and goodies to get your day started on Saturday and Sunday.

Additionally, the CUT-OFF date for T-shirt orders is SATURDAY, MARCH 18TH. (See Posts,#73, 83, 108, & 130 for details) Just prior to that date, a recap of the order will be posted for your individual approval.

More to follow...

Sounds like a plan! More time to have fun!

WHO'S INTERESTED????

Ron from PERFORMANCE TRAILER BRAKING (Titan Disc Brakes) will have one of his crews in the area during the rally. He has offered a 20-30 minute presentation on disc brakes AND the National Rally Pricing of $2450 for 7K & 8K tandem axle installation. He indicated they could perform 2-3 installs during the rally.
Let me know if you're interested in hearing more about Titan disc Brakes or would want a set installed.

Most installs on Heartland products we mount the actuator in the propane compartment. It's a straight shot down to the frame rail, along the frame rail and up the Z frame to the first axle and start Teeing off there. We want to keep the lines visible so that if you ever develop a leak it's easy to spot.

OK so here is the story. For the ones that were at the New Holland rally, you know the camp ground had little bitty site markers, they were the size of credit cards. Well, while looking for the number of the site, we missed it and went past the site. While looking for the site number, I was not paying attention to the dog leg, 90 degree curve with a big tree in the middle of the road. I was only going about 5 miles an hour, but that tree jumped right out and slammed into the side of the rig.

That tree must have played for the Steelers, because it busted my left leaf spring and shifted the left and right hangers. Thank goodness I was able to overnight a leaf spring and get the brake installer to install the spring and straighten the hangers, so we could limp back home 8 1/2 hours to get the camper fixed.

Other than hitting the tree on the first day, we had a great time for our first time camping in PA and attending the NE Rally.

There is nothing worse than beginning a trip by doing something of this nature, TV breaking down or something not working. I think we've ALL been there multiple times (with more coming...unless we're going to hang it up); it just comes with the territory. These things have a way of placing a damper on a trip but we move on and laugh about it later. Thanks for telling on yourself; no muscadine needed here as unlike these Jokers, I can empathize. :D LOL

Titan Brakes, Performance Braking, will be at the rally performing an install for one our club members. Immediately following our Saturday morning continental breakfast, I've set aside in our agenda 30 minutes for their representative to present a seminar for anyone that is potentially interested in this excellent performance upgrade. Additionally, anyone can have a look see during the installation as it happens.
I'm sure they would have time for an additional install too. If you're interested, reply here or send me a PM and I'll hook you up with Ron Russell from Performance Braking.

Just checked, in addition to the above (which is 30' or so, 10 gauge) I also have a couple of 10 amp long extension cords with whatever adapters needed to plug into RV 50 or 30 amp.
Long enough so we could tap off of other pedestals.
