Well everyone has been asking and waiting and I finally got the contract signed for the Louisiana Spring April Fools Rally. You can contact Ms. Spikes Monday through Friday during the hours of 8 am to 4 pm to make your reservation or you can call 800-584-7263 and speak to reservations. Make sure that you mention the group Heart17 so that they place you with our group. The rally rate is only good the 3 days of the rally, any days before or after will be at the current rate for that day. Once you have made your reservation please report back by posting here if you were successful or if you had any issues.

There will be a potluck as well as an activity on Saturday and a possible dinner out as a group on Friday, I will update as soon as these items are finalized. Also, would anyone be interested in rally shirts or not?

I'll post back a little later with the dates and reservations. Friday breakfast is on... Be taking a slow trip to La from the West Texas rally in Alpine.

Excellent rally in New Holland, Pa.. Had people from foreign countries in attendance.. I met some CAnAdAdiAns and people from Joisy, both north and south. Again, great rally Mr. Walker.

Great to be back home and looking forward to meeting our La. bunch again. See everyone there.
BTW, I don't start drinking till after 9:30 AM.

Alright I have updated the attendee list on the first post for everyone that has contacted me so far and told me they have a reservation. If you have not made one yet and want to come please do so soon as they may fill up. I originally asked for 20 sites but as long as there is room in park they should let you in let me know if you have issues.

Also, who would be interested in a private tour of a Mardi Gras museum in nearby lake Charles? If there is enough interest we can put this together for Saturday mid morning after breakfast. Please post and let me know if you want to do the tour so I can get it set up.
https://www.visitlakecharles.org/swlamardigras/mardi-gras-museum/

Also Frank Baker will be heading up the breakfast extravaganza again this year so please let him know how you will be helping him out. This will take place Friday morning. Also at this time we will have a brake and tire seminar given by Performance Braking.

Andy, I think I have my reservation (at least I have a confirmation number) arriving 28 March and departing 03 April. I tried for two days to reach the person you gave the extension for, but never could. I just called reservations and talked to the lady there. She said I was all set up for Heart17, but the next time you are checking the reservations, please check mine and make sure I am in fact with the group.

If you have an advantage players card, give them the number as I think you get a little hack on the non-rally days.

Peggy and I will make some of the famous J.B. scrambled eggs, but I don't think we can handle everyone. Maybe a couple of other folks could make some as well. I have the recipe that he published on the forum last year if anyone needs it.

2 grills going with sausage and bacon. Always good to have another chef on hand to allow for cigarettes and coffee breaks.lol Dave, I have a large electric skillet for the fried potatoes, plenty of bacon grease, just need the chef. Depending on where we eat at, maybe better to cook a site. Talk later about it.
Cook and cover the spuds and make some scrambled eggs in the skillet last.
It always works out. Someone with biscuits/gravy, eggs, grits (cheesy ones), fruit, juices, etc.
Nobody has ever gone hungry at one of these events.
Everybody has got to try my Krispi Kreme copy donuts while hot. Coffee and these one morning or afternoon just to show off.lol

Dang, now I'm hungry and ready to rally. See everyone there.

Andy, will Marie be at the rally? She reminds me of a girl I met years ago when I lived in Lafayette.

Marie bought a brand new automatic Jaguar XF.

She drives the car perfectly well during the day, but at night, the car just won’t move at all. After trying to drive the car at night for a week (but without any luck), she calls the Jaguar dealer and they send out Thibodeax, their best technician, to check it out.
Thibodeax checks the car and can’t find anything wrong with it. So he asked Marie, “Are you sho you be using the rat gears, cher?”
Marie is mad now. “Yeah you fool, you idiot, how on earth you could axe me such a question? I might be a blonde but I ain’t dumb, you know! Of course, I’m using the rat gears. I use dat D during the day and dat N during the night.”

If possible, how much for a day pass. If able we might can go for Saturday. The rally is only a 2 hr ride for us. I go to to Dr on 3/21. He might start allowing car rides. I been stuck inside for 6 months. I'm itching to go somewhere and meet some of the Heartland family.

Like Andy said, no fee for the day. However, a big box of filled do-nuts would be a nice gesture. If you drop them off with the 'Lil Guy', I'll make sure to give you a plug here on the forum. lol Not to mention that Andy occasionally forgets the departure do-nuts. Ask me about my departure do-nut personally handed to me at the dump station by Andy at one of his previous rallies.
On a serious note, if Andy charges you, I'll pay. Hope to see you at the rally.

Also take note that we are doing a breakfast potluck Friday morning as Frank does such a wonderful job with this so please plan on bringing something to share we the group. Our other potluck will be Saturday and I will be doing a chicken and sausage gumbo. Can I get atleast one person to make a potato salad and then anyone else can bring a dish to share.

Please don't forget to let folks know I will be there to provide info on the disc brake systems and upgrade tires. I will also be setting up the tire gauge calibration station at my site FREE of charge to see what your tire gauge is actually reading. Will also have some for sale if anyone has a bad one. Mine can be calibrated and not all gauges can be. I'll also make one of them available for a door prize.

We will also be at Goshen with two installers to put the brakes on in Goshen but need reservations soon to guarantee your spot.

I was in the trailer when the fire started, but quickly became one of the "Keystone Cop Firemen". All I could find to put water in was a large shallow chip and dip dish, and most of the water splashed out before I got to the fire with it. Ashamed to say, I completely forgot about the fire extinguisher, it was a good thing Baker and all his assistants had shoes on and were able to stomp out the fire. Where is Mac the Fire Guy when you need him?

All I could find to put water in was a large shallow chip and dip dish, and most of the water splashed out before I got to the fire with it. Ashamed to say, I completely forgot about the fire extinguisher, it was a good thing Baker and all his assistants had shoes on and were able to stomp out the fire. Where is Mac the Fire Guy when you need him?

I also heard about beer being poured on it too lol

I didn't see that being done, that was a waste of good beer. As much beer as had been consumed, they could have easily sprayed second hand beer on it.

Yeah, I was right across the road from George when he and his friends tried to burn the place down . . . fortunately the road acted as a fire break so Ed Potts (my neighbor) and I weren't really in jeopardy.

1st, no beer was wasted on a fire. 2nd, it was Ed Potts fault. 3rd, minimal damage to George's site. The fire barely climbed into the tree.lol The bottom of my pit had fallen off and could have happened to anyone. Regardless, the steaks were great and the fire went out.
The 'Lil Guy' is always good for some excitement.

Hate to hear that Dave is cancelling out. You can't trust the moderators. BTW, Dave, can you change my user name to 'Lil Guy' for me. Talked to JB and he said it could be done but I couldn't do it. Said I had to suck up to one of the moderators.
Please change from Baker to 'Lil Guy' or I'll burn your house down.
Andy, looks like rain again. Looking forward to seeing everyone and hope it is as much fun as the W. Texas rally.
Looks like Coushatta is going to comp us a couple of grand since we are such a draw. Hope the weather is good for Friday morning for breakfast. See everyone there. Later and have a great day.

JMO, but I think the Marfa lights are just illegals sneaking around in the brush with flashlights. Thanks Dave for the quick fix.
Our fire couldn'.t have been confused for the Marfa lights. Maybe another Mount St Helen but not some small lights. When you stomped on it and the fire tripled, well, we're talking more like a sun burst. Between the dry grass and the 40 mph winds, dang, we're lucky to be laughing about it now. Being in the witness protection program, I don't need all of this publicity.

Big "A". Looks like a good group for our Friday breakfast. My concern is the weather you always bring. How do we handle it if it's raining. Can we cook under cover at the hall? Looks like too big of a crowd to have it at a site(at least my site).lol Are we getting facilities for it and what are your thoughts on the subject. I'll have plenty of bacon, sausage, both pan and link. Advise if you will. Thanks in advance. Also, a rough number of attendees.

Let's plan for no rain as the forecast has changed almost every hour. I will grab my ez ups we use for tailgating and bring them though. Rough number, we are down to 20 rigs total and most of them will be there early so I would venture a guess of 25 or so attendees

So, are we cooking and serving at a site? Not a problem, just want to know. I have an E Z up to cook the meat with. Sounds more like 35 to 40 people. I'll do the meat and some eggs also. Thanks for the eggs Mike. I'll volunteer Ed Potts to help with the meat cooking since Dave has bowed out. If I cook the meat at the serving site, I could make eggs to order on the 3 grills. Just a thought.
What is a good time? Maybe serve at 8:30 or 9:00? Want it earlier, no problem. Just thinking of the group as a whole. This could merit a little bit of a discussion here. Time is getting close.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the rally.
BTW, After I know the serving time, I'll determine when Ed needs to get up to help with the meat.lol

Frank, we're planning on using Jim B's recipe and will cook up a couple dozen eggs and Dolly, George's boss, is planning on doing some as well. Ours will be made to order as well as long as the order is for Jim B's scrambled eggs.

Mike, I'm not sure but I believe Dolly has George add some dog bones to her eggs. If George brings his eggs in a big dish and just sets it on the ground, I would steer clear myself. I'll be there Wednesday evening. I guess we'll determine a site for Friday morning. I'll have a couple of tables for my 2 gas grills with griddle plates and 2 electric griddles. I also have a big square electric skillet if needed. I guess we'll discuss it Thursday. Getting hungry, excited and ready for another rally.

Actually that is not a bad idea with the volume of food and number of people (up to 40) everyone would not have to all scramble at 0830. Not all day, but maybe a couple of hours anyway.

Yeah, all those "non morning persons" don't have dogs that have to go out every morning no matter if it is rain, sleet or snow. Since those of us with dogs are up and out anyway, might as well have an early breakfast and then brunch later with the sleep ins.

If you weren't here you missed a great breakfast. If you were and went away hungry it's your own fault lol.

Thanks again to Frank Debbie and Malcom from r providing and cooking all of the meat and everyone else for your contributions. It was wonderful as always.

Where's the SCRAPPLE!!!

We thought you were bringing it. We had biscuits and gravy instead.

Frank said we had so much bacon that we can probably have an impromptu lunch gathering with BLTs.

There is no such thing as "too much bacon"

Like Andy said we thank you for the effort and you two provided one of the best breakfast I've seen at any rally. You and Nichole"s positive attitude touched everyone. Y'all are great additions. Get your back healed and join us again, this time with your rig.

It looks like we may be in for some nasty weather most of Sunday and into Sunday evening. All that are traveling tomorrow be careful and don't take chances.
