Hi. I'm new to this forum and fifth wheels so I apologize if this question has been answered before. I am losing my mind trying to find out some answers. We just bought a 2017 Big Country fifth wheel. It says total weight is 16,000lbs max. We are looking at a 2010 GMC Sierra Duramax SLT DRW. Anyone out there that has this truck? I'd really like to know if this truck has the towing capacity for our new BC. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Engine and rear axle ratio, cab size, bed size and whether 2WD or 4WD makes a difference. Some have a 5th wheel towing capacity as low as 13,800 lbs. Others as high as 21,700 lbs. Find yours. Also check the label inside the driver's door to find the payload/maximum load and make sure it's over 4,000 lbs.

2010 GMC Tow Ratings

You did not say if its a 2500 or 3500. A 2010 3500 may be iffy. The greater weight rating did not happen until 2011 on GM trucks. Personally, I would find a 2011 or newer 3500 DRW truck. You be pushing close to a pin weight of 3500# and that is not including the weight of people, the hitch, dogs, cats and stuff in the bed of the truck. The way to figure pin weight is....about 20% +/- of the GVW (16000K).
