ATF: Gateway - Mold in ceiling of 2016 Gateway3200se

We just took our brand new Gateway fifth wheel out for our 3rd camping trip. The last trip was in June for Fathers Day. When we arrived, we found mold on comforter and pillows in the bedroom. The source seems to be in ceiling where the reading lights are located. There is a strong odor of mold in the bedroom. Any other complaints? How can this be addressed?

Hi Pevans70737,

Sorry to hear about the problem you're having. Sounds like you may have some water intrusion.

If you have a bedroom air conditioner, you should check to see if it's included in the Technical Service Bulletin that was recently issued. There were some units where water was leaking from the A/C unit into the ceiling. You can find out if your rig is included by calling Heartland Customer Service at 877-262-8032 / 574-262-8030. Have your VIN # ready.

Another possibility is that you have a water leak on the roof or at one of the light fixtures. You'll want to carefully check all the caulking and sealing. Water can take odd paths, so a leak may not be close to where you're seeing the problem.

Maybe someone has some ideas with respect to cleanup.
