Solar Costs

Early in 2016 I installed solar on my 2016 Bighorn 3685RL. Now I'm collecting all the cost for my taxes. Thought this might be interesting for those thinking about installing solar. Cost more than I thought it would but, I didn't try to do it the cheapest. I tried to do what I thought was the best way. Hope it's helpful.

Nice list!!

I'm am NOT tax expert, but it seems like you have a lot of stuff in there that isn't really required to have solar.

Do you have a link to what is allowed for solar tax credit? I'd love to see that. :)

The three on the bottom I'm not including in tax calculations. Batteries are very limited in deducting. The stuff above, most would be, I think. Decor, heat shrink, strain reliefs, some cabling and some others might be questionable. If there's a list of what's deductible I've never found one. Maybe someone has an opinion. I would have done it even without the tax credit. It was more a post about total cost.

Everything on the list is deductible, Including the batteries, if they were installed as part of the solar installation.

No problems with deductions when I did my solar installation.

I did my solar as well,
220 watt solar panel $240.00
1 morning star duo charge controller
$130.00
4 group 31 deka agm batteries $ 400.00
6 GA Marine wire red/ black $45.00
MS 2812 Magnum Inverter $ 225.00
Magnum remote $150.00
Sub panel $30.00
So just under $1200.00.
My solar panel pulling 16 volts keeps my entire battery bank charge..If it's cloudy I fire up the Onan for 30 minutes
