Why all the carpet?

I notice there is carpet under all the furniture in main room of the Landmark (and all other RVs I have seen). Is there a reason it is always carpeted and can the carpet be removed and replaced with the type of flooring already in the RV? I don't have an RV right yet but hope to before the year is out.

That is a good question. I saw some models (another manufacturer) in an RV show last year that had the same linoleum-like flooring throughout.

I believe the reason they use carpet is that it is a good way to cover the seam of the slide-out, and it provides a bit of insulation. I know even with it, our Bighorn gets colder in the slide-outs.

Hello,
The carpet allows the slide flap to cover the gap where the floor meets the slide when in position. Not stated but in my experience the chairs and furniture would either leave marks or dents in the floor when towing down the road.

There is minimal carpet in my Bighorn compared to my old fiver.
