Water Heater gas starter question

Hi All,
I have a new Big Country and having a bit of an issue with my water heater. I live quite a way from my dealer so I am hoping this is something I can handle myself. It seems that when I am running on gas, some times the igniter does not light the gas? It sits and clicks for a while but then does not light. Sometimes it does light. Any ideas from anyone?

Thanks,
Jason

Jason,

We have a 09 bighorn that does the same thing. I turn off the gas switch for 5 min. and it starts. I am not sure what the problem is, I plan on contacting a dealer. I am interested in hearing from others. Thanks

Best rule always for both the Water Heater as well as the Furnace...

IF... it does not light at first... turn the appliance off for 5 minutes... let the electrical circuit board reset... then try again. If for some reason it did not light... the built in protection prevents gas from flowing... the 5 minute wait allows this condition to clear so you can try again.
