Tow Mileage 31RED or any large North Trail

I've been lurking for quite a while and love the information on this forum. My wife and I are about a year from retirement and seriously thinking of buying a North Trail for travel. I'm very much interested in some users actual mileage when towing one of these trailers with a 150 or 1500 pickup.

Thanks for your help.

I recently purchased a north trail travel trailer and I love the way it tows the wide track system. I dont use a sway bar and dont have any problems with it. I havent had a chance to gauge my mileage yet but I would guess that I didnt lose much. We bought ours from Tim Victory at Route 66 RVs in Claremore, OK. They were great and I would recommend them to anyone. Good luck in your search for one!!!

I have just purchased a 28BHS and the same truck as VietvetUSMC. We have moderate hills here and I generally drive ~60-65 MPH on the interstate. I have been getting 10-11 mpg on my first trip out with my gross weight at 12,400#.

If you are interested in North Trails, you may want to check out this forum: http://www.northtrailtalk.com/

It is the same at the Heartland site but is geared towards North Trail models.

Have a 28BHS using a 1997 Jeep Loredo with 5.2liter V8

In hilly interstate a dismal 9.1 MPG but on relatively flat interstate approx 12MPG.

We have a 2009 North Trail 31QBS and so far love it. I tow it with a 2003 1500 Silverado ext. cab 4x4 with a 6" fabtech lift & 35" tires & a 5.3L engine with a hypertech programmer. I use a 5 inch drop hitch with 800-1200 weight distribution bars, a sway control, & a run of the mill $70 brake controller.

I just got back from a 875 mile round trip and averaged 65 to 70 mph at 8.5 to 9 miles per gallon.

2009 31BHD behind a tweaked 2008 F-150 King Ranch Supercrew. We average between 10 and 12. I'd say interstate is average 11-12, while rural jaunts within 45 miles of the house generate 10-11. Untweaked, well, I just don't drive it untuned.

We have a North Trail 31Red, pulling it with an 07 Dodge Ram 1500 HEMI. At 12,500 GCVW I get between 9.5 and 11 MPG in Tow/Haul mode driving between 60 and 70 MPH. It all depends on how long the hills or mountians your driving up are. As another note to keep it 65mph in mountian areas you will hit 4100 RPMS often. So keep in mind that will keep your MPG way down.
