Would love to attend as it is only about 5 miles from our house. Only problem is I will be 400 miles away at a competition that week.

Would be cool to give another "Ranger" talk but wont be able to make it happen this time.:(

Bill, the Ranger talk was going to be my next ask :o If anything changes let us know. It would be great to see you and Kelly again.

Will do John, but the dates are pretty well set in stone. I managed a 3rd place finish this year out of over 200 pilots so hoping to top that next year.

Greetings all,

We need your help on a quick poll regarding a dinner show at the rally.

I've had a few inquiries about attending one of the many dinners shows in the area as part of our Rally agenda. If you've never been to one, we very much encourage it. They are very good and sprinkle in clean humor. I was once a skeptic, but have been converted ;)

All the show are about the same price. Since many attended the Hatfield and McCoy dinner show (ask Ricky and Rachel about the spoon ;) at the 2015 Region Rally, we thought we would try the newest show in town to avoid repeats.

The Smoky Mountain Adventures Dinner Show (https://smokymountainadventures.com) gets very good reviews (links below) and is billed as "Cirque de Solei meets the mountains." I'll leave that interpretation up to you.

The details are:
1. We would attend the 6p show on Saturday, 4/28
2. The group rate per couple is about $95 which is roughly an $18 savings off retail. Basically, it's better level seating and the lesser level price.
3. an absolute minimum of 20 people is required for the group rate. That's the rules and I don't make 'em
4. we would need to have your check by 3/15 to put down a guaranteed deposit

So we would very much appreciate a quick "yea, I'm definitely in" or "no-way-jose" response by 2/15. We'll go with the majority. If we end up not doing the show perhaps we'll come up with a good ole chitlin-based meal at the RV resort. We'll figure it out ;)

Greetings All,
Here are a few updates on the TN Rally.

Dinner Show. The quick responses have been very positive so The Smoky Mountain Adventures Dinner Show is a go for Saturday, April 28th at 6p. Please give us until Tuesday to receive the contract then we will communicate the final price (estimated to be about $95) and with instructions for your check due by 3/15 so we can make our guaranteed deposit payment. We will deposit all checks into our dedicated HOC TN Chapter bank account.
Rally Attendance. We reserved 50 sites and now have 44 attendees. With only 6 sites left, if anyone is on the fence, we encourage you to sign up now. This resort is very popular and we won't be in a position to make large additions.
Resort WiFi. We updated post #1 last week, but want to make sure you saw the update on WiFi at the resort. River Plantation is transitioning from resort-wide wifi (which suffered bandwidth issues from streaming) to 3 dedicated hotspots.
Activities during the rally week. 75% of group is coming in at least 1 day in advance of the rally and the vast majority at least 2 days in advance. With that in mind, we'll likely put together some informal gatherings for those interested. At a minimum, we'll arrange a group dinner just down the road from the resort and perhaps a trip into Gatlinburg and some rooftop relaxing at the Loco Burro. In addition, if anyone is into hiking (actual walking or motorized) let me know. We can arrange a hike suitable for the group or we can drive the Roaring Fork Motor Trail (http://www.gsmnp.com/roaring-fork-motor-nature-trail/) which is basically a Smoky Mountain drive through.

We will most likely pass on the Sat. Dinner Show.
We would be very interested in a group dinner, a trip to Gatlinburg or any rooftop relaxing!

We are also into hiking and biking so have much interest. We are on the adventurist side though and are looking for a 7-8 miler to a peak or falls... I've looked at your link to Great Smoky Mountains NP and searched the hikes they recommend there. We would be willing to organize a hike if anyone else is interested.

If anyone is familiar with this area can you recommend a hike or two? Any good biking trails?

Thanks all, we are looking forward to it!

Hi Everyone,

We just put down a deposit on a Landmark Savannah with an ETA of March 1. We will be full-timing on a permanent site at an RV Park a couple hours west from the rally's location. I was wondering if we could still attend without actually having to camp there? Would it be terribly ackward to roll up without a fifth wheel in tow? I thought it might be fun to get to meet other owners. We are as new as they come to this lifestyle. I think I would do well to just sit around and listen to what all the experienced RVers have to share. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and respond.

I'm sure the Chapter leader will comment, but I'll say no, it's not a problem to come without a rig. We've done it at a few North Texas Chapter Rallies! We actually were about 4 hours away from the Rally, so we arrived on Saturday AM and stayed overnight in a hotel, visited some more on Sunday and then headed home.

We have some folks coming to our West Texas Rally that live in the town where the Rally is being held, so they are not bringing their rig.

We encourage folks to come and see what rallies are all about, and get to know the other members of the "Heartland Family"!

Fred & Leslie: It would be great if you would organize a hike. If we are free from other rally commitments we have, Melinda and I will definitely come along and help.

Here are a few hiking options to consider:
1. Ramsey Cascades (8m) is good for the highest waterfall in the park. https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/ramsey-cascades.htm
2. Charles Bunion (8m). This trail is along part of the AT and you'll pass one of the shelters on the way to the rock cropping with spectacular views. The access is at Newfound Gap so the parking is good and you have easy access to Clingman's Dome while you are there. https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/chimneys-alternative-charlies-bunion.htm
3. Andrews Bald (3.6). We haven't done this trail, but the views are supposed to be awesome. It's accessed via the Clingman Done parking lot so you have that as well. https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/chimneys-alternative-andrews-bald.htm
4. Alum Cave Bluffs/Mt. LeConte (5-11m). This trail is part of the summit to Mt. LeConte so it's 5m round trip to the Bluffs; 11m round trip if you go the remaining distance to Mt. LeConte. We've done the Bluffs but not the ascent to LeConte. It's on our list though so if you want to give it a go let me know. https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/chimneys-alternative-alum-cave-bluffs.htm
https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/chimneys-alternative-alum-cave-bluffs.htm

As for biking, check this link (http://www.hikinginthesmokys.com/bicycling_smoky_mountains.htm). The 11 miles Cades Cove Loop is a good option. The loop is closed to car traffic until 10a Wednesday and Saturdays, but that usually doesn't start until May when traffic picks up. You can also rent bikes to do the loop.

You are more than welcome to attend without your coach and one other person is doing the same. The rally is an awesome way to meet great people. The rally is free for Heartland Owners Club Members; $20 otherwise. Unless it's in flight, I don't show you as a Heartland Owners Club Member. The membership is complimentary, but you do have to register here: https://heartlandowners.org/club/join-the-club/

Good morning everyone. For the detailed calendar folks out there (self included ;), we needed to move our Smoky Mountain Adventures dinner show outing to FRIDAY NIGHT, 4/27, vs the original date of 4/28. This affords us the ability to all be together as a group on the final evening of the rally and opens up an opportunity to better support our Heartland Gives Back charity on Saturday evening. I appreciate your understanding.

We're bumping up against the 50 sites we had reserved at the River Plantation RV Resort, but we were able to secure an additional 15 sites. So if you've been on the fence we have plenty of room for you!

Greetings all,

I've updated post #1 with the rally and dinner show attendees.

We have 47 rigs signed up for the rally with attendees from 14 different states. We have to release all remaining sites being held on March 23rd; one week from Friday. So, last call before we give them back.

Thank you for sending in the dinner show checks promptly. We have 21 rigs signed up (42 people) and we have enough checks in to cover our deposit. We reserved seating for 60 so we have room for up to 9 more rigs (18 people) if you are still interested in attending the dinner show. We can work with you on receiving the checks but have to make our final payment by April 6th. You might still be able to attend after that date, but seating will need to be on your own.

We're very much looking forward to seeing everyone next month. Rally on!

Well, it's almost time! We've updated post #1 to include a draft agenda.

The overwhelming majority are arriving early so we have included some optional pre-rally activities on Tuesday and Wednesday for those interested.

We have a group tour at a fantastic new distillery just up the road from the resort. We've arranged to have the owner and master distiller, Chris Yet lead our group and there will be a HOC discount on any purchases. If you plan on taking the tour, I would appreciate knowing so I can coordinate the logistics. Be sure to try the TeeneKeela!

HEARTLAND GIVES BACK
The Heartland Gives Back Initiative (HGBi) is an initiative by the Heartland Owners Club to “give back” to the communities we rally in. For each rally, we choose one or more organizations as our HGBi beneficiaries.

The HGBi for this Rally is the Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group (EIN 62-1854671). The Celebrate Life group strives to meet the basic needs of hundreds of local area cancer patients by providing assistance with medical costs, prosthetic devices, and various other expenditures affecting cancer patients and their families.

This is an ALL VOLUNTEER organization so there are no overhead costs and 100% of donations go directly to those in need. It’s a great opportunity to make a big difference for this local charity.

The vast majority of their need is financial and envelopes will be provided for your contribution. In addition, the Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group could use gas cards and grocery cards as they transport people to their cancer treatments and assist them with meals. At the cancer treatment center they are in need of any type of individually wrapped snacks that patients nibble on during their treatment. These can be Little Debbies, chips, etc but they do need to be individually wrapped.

Thank you in advance for supporting this very special charity!

Good afternoon all,

Our fellow Heartlanders at Performance Trailer Braking (see below) have graciously offered to attend our TN rally. Given that about half of our rally attendees are flocking north from the SE Region Rally in Atlanta, we've held off on asking them to make the trip unless we have enough demand for more information or installations.

The Performance Trailer Braking team will be conducting a seminar and doing installs at the SE Region Rally in Stone Mountain. We encourage you to check out their seminar and we will have them join us in Sevierville if you need more time with them.

A few administrative notes for next week:

1. If you are arriving early and want to join the group for the Loco Burro in Gatlinburg on Tuesday night and/or the Local Goat on Wednesday night, please let me know. These places get busy quickly and we’d like to make a reservation so we don’t have to wait long upon arrival. So let me know if you are in for 1 or both. We still have a couple openings for the distillery tour as well

2. For those attending the dinner show on Friday, we need to pair up on driving as best we can. The venue will have reserved parking for ‘big trucks’ but I need to provide a vehicle count. I’m going to assume 4 or 5 to a vehicle and will do the pairing unless there are any serious objections.

3. We’re able to provide two main meals for this rally which is why there are 2 potluck nights where you bring a side or dessert to share.

For the advance potluck planners, the Wednesday meal will be BBQ pulled pork and Saturday will be grilled burgers and hotdogs.

Lastly, please mind your speed inside the campground. The speed limit is 7 and they have a sign saying you only get one warning. So beware [emoji51]

Hope to arrive not too late on Wednesday.

Greetings all!

Post #1 has been updated with the latest sign ups for events. There is plenty of room for additions so let me know if we need to add you to one of the following lists: Distillery Tour, Loco Burro dinner, Local Goat Dinner, Smoky Mountain Adventure Dinner Show (limited availability).

We're also starting a list of teams and excuses for the Corn Hole Tournament Saturday afternoon. You can sign up by team (2) or as a single and we will create teams. Our sponsor Yee Haw Brewing Co will be at this event with samples  This should make for a fun afternoon of friendly competition and socializing!

our Garmin 606 LMT took us supposedly to parkway in pigeon forge, maybe 5 miles south. We did a u turn on the divided highway and called the resort. IF YOU see Walmart on your right side heading south, you are about 1 mile south.
Once we did turn around and headed north the gps was correct. Look carefully for the wooden western arch on the right side when heading north. It’s tricky to see because it gets lost among the other signs etc.

hope this helps.

As you come up the hill from downtown Sevierville, you will see a red and white helicopter on the left with a monster truck behind it, a Marathon station and a car wash. There will be a left hand turn lane starting right at the end of the Marathon station which is where you turn left down the hill to the rv resort. Also there will also be a white wooden sign saying River Plantation RV Resort on the left. There used to be a Liberty Tax service on the also on the corner but not sure if the old brick building is still there.

Loco Burro Day!

Please read through the details below for venue and parking information.

We have 34 people signed up (list below) for Loco Burro this afternoon at 4p for drinks, eats, and various forms of merriment ;) The venue will have a table set up for 40 so we can accommodate last minute additions.

Transportation and Parking:
There is no organized transportation for this event as some people are hiking, others spending the day in Gatlinburg and others are going just in time. That being said, we encourage you to buddy up and car pool as best you can. Tuesday shouldn't be that busy in Gatlinburg, but parking can be a challenge, especially for those with Fat Thighs.

There is a large parking lot behind Loco Burro that I think is $10. A short distance away is Christ in the Smokies Museum and Gardens which charges $5, but you have to walk up a slight hill to get to the restaurant. The address is 510 River Rd, Gatlinburg, TN 37738. Regardless of where you choose to park, you should consider taking River Road as you enter downtown Gatlinburg. It will take you on the behind Loco Burro and is easier to navigate than 441 through the main shopping area.

The address, phone number, and web url for the Loco Burro are:

735 Parkway #1, Gatlinburg.

Well, the pre-rally dinner at Loco Burro is in the books and all I can say is there was a bit of loco; and there is video evidence :D

The first event tomorrow is the Sevier Distilling Company tour at 2pm. The tours will be led by Owner and Master Distiller Chris Yett.

We have 42 people confirmed for this event (see below), but can accommodate more if you still want to go. We will split into groups and some will be touring while others do tastings. If you want to preview the offerings go to http://sevierdistilling.com/
Also, there is a coupon for 15% off your purchase in your rally bag.

While the parking is not like in Gatlinburg, it would be helpful if we could car pool as best we can. So find a new friend on the signup list below and buddy up. Melinda and I have some rally errands to run tomorrow so we will meet everyone at the distillery.

Logistics
Please plan on leaving River Plantation by 1:30p. It's a right hand turn out of River Plantation and it should only take 15 minutes to get there. The GPS does work on the address. The distillery is a block off the main road and is directly behind a Staples.

Back home in KY from a fantastic double rally trip! The Southeastern rally was...well, what can I say? It was just a splendid week!
About the TN rally... Few places in the country compare to the Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area. The River Plantation is a great site for a rally and John and Melinda have really set the bar high for future rallies everywhere! The food, fun and laughs will remain in our memories for a very long time.
Leslie and I are grateful for all the time and hard work so many people have contributed in an effort to make these events the great times they were. Thank you all!

A big thanks to both John and Melinda for a great rally. This was our first and met some great people. The food was - well -plenty and great. I have never seen that much food at a buffet from a campground - did I mention I think I tried all of it - yummy.

The host were great and set the bar very high for future events. We are hooked for future rally's if time permits as that pesky four letter word (work) gets involved.

John and Melinda - keep it up and thanks again.

This was our first rally and it was really great. While talking to others there we heard you guys went all out. You did!!! Now we know what others have been talking about how much fun these rallies can be. When you have another chapter rally let us know and we will see if we can make it. Sevierville is a great location because there is so much to do. From what others have said I totally agree, it was a blast to come to the rally. We did meet great people and seen some beautiful rigs. Having the Morride rep was great we got a great deal on the handle for our steps and Gary helped figure out the portable steps for our patios, big thank you to Gary for his help.

We can't say enough about how much we really liked our time with all of you there, it was really great. Steph talked about it all the way back to Ohio about how much fun she had with all of the group. A big THANK YOU for having us in your group.
Safe travels to all and hope to see everybody in our travels..... 13 months, 30 days the retirement.

Thank you all for attending the TN Rally! We enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones. We especially enjoyed the great number of first timers. What a fantastic group!

We started pulling the pictures together and will host them on DropBox for a while. The link is below:
