Entry Steps

As prospective 5[SUP]th[/SUP] wheel buyers, the one thing we’d liked changed is their entry steps. Other manufacturers of similar quality 5[SUP]th[/SUP] wheels have adopted better, sturdier entry steps. The Step Above by MOR/ryde is our favorite. The adjustable feet provide a stable platform for entering and exiting. This will be one of our first modifications we have done before hitting the road.

Hi WineTravelers,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and hopefully to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

A lot of folks are changing out the original steps for the sturdier ones and I think some of the new units are equipped from the factory with the new ones.

Enjoy the forum and hope to see you in a Heartland unit.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Jim.

We’ve been looking at 5[SUP]th[/SUP] wheels for awhile now (8 months) and with the process of elimination the 3160EL Bighorn is our model of choice, so far. Leaning towards new, but not ruling out well-kept used unit.

Our first thought was to replace the steps too, but we’ve now found a possible fix, the Camco 43671 self-storing step stabilizer. We’ll give this a try first since it’s not that costly, less than $20 for a pair on Amazon.

If anyone has tried these or similar stabilizers we’d like to hear your thoughts.

Safe travels,
George & Diane
