EMS has loud buzz

We have a hard wired 50amp ems from progressive industries. We have had it about 5 years. It has suddenly started making a buzzing noise.

Is this normal? Is it getting ready to quit?

Thanks!

Nancy,

The EMS has a large relay or contactor inside that makes and breaks the power connection. A buzzing could be an indication that the contactor is not holding securely and could fail soon. Marginal shore power or a loose connection might also be a possibility.

You might call Progressive to get their opinion. They would probably have a better idea of what internal components might produce buzzing sounds.

Thanks, Dan! I'll give them a call.
