Slides and level up not getting enough power to operate

We have a 2018 big horn traveler 5th wheel and we keep her plugged into shore power when we get home from a trip, but have noticed that the slides don’t want to extend after sitting a couple of weeks, we’ve had to plug her into the truck to get her to operate. Our two batteries are on in the cargo, are we draining them while just being plugged into shore power? Could use some help figuring this one out, thanks in advance!

Hi JeananneW,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum.

It sounds like while on shore power your batteries aren't getting recharged. There's a 12V DC mini-circuit breaker near the batteries that has a manual reset. If it trips for any reason, the output of the Power Converter doesn't get to the batteries. When you hook up to the tow vehicle, the power from the tow vehicle takes a different path that does get to the batteries.

Look near the batteries for a row of small breakers covered by a red rubber boot. Two of the breakers probably have thick wires attached. One of those two breakers has a teeny-tiny reset button on the end. I've attached some pictures to help. Yours may look a little different.

Also, take a look at our new owner-written Electrical user guide. There's additional information and pictures starting on page 25.
