We own a 2016 Landmark 365 Key West with a residential fridge.

The fridge wont run while driving. Dealer says there is a reset button and we need a magnet to do the reset. Can anyone explain this further? Thank!

Hi Kevin,

The dealer may be confused about the magnetic reset. Norcold gas absorption refrigerators that get the backside splashed during washing sometimes need that.

For residential refrigerators, the only reset button is for the Inverter that changes 12V DC battery power to 120V AC power used by the refrigerator. You have a button in your control panel that's probably labeled "Magnum". That's for the inverter. It's a remote "ON" button. There's also a local "ON" button on the bottom of the Inverter.

You probably also have a separate cutoff switch between batteries and Inverter. You'll want to ensure that's also turned ON.

For more detailed information along with pictures, diagrams, and diagnostics, take a look at our owner-written Residential Refrigerator Guide in this folder. You can also get there by clicking on the TOOLS tab at top of page and selecting HUG - Heartland User Guides.

Does your frig work when not hooked to pedestal power and the Remote Switch at your panel is on? It should, if not check your inverter and make sure the breaker doesn't need to be reset. The breaker is located by the plug side of you inverter. Push it in to reset. Also make sure you batteries switches are turned on.

Sometimes when the slide comes in it will kink the gas hose.

Kevin and Sharon:
Since having your refrigerator quit while you are going down the road is such a big deal, you might be interested in this modification to your trailer of a warning light you can see when driving if your refrigerator loses power. This mod was developed/posted by Jim Beletti, our owners club president, and Heartland Director of Customer Relations. https://heartlandowners.org/showthr...shland?p=411847&highlight=inverter#post411847

Other people have installed one of those wireless remote thermometer sensors in the refig and carried the readout with them in the truck when they are towing the rig. These can be bought for less than $20 at Walmart, and then used when you are parked with the sensor mounted outside and the readout mounted inside to monitor the outside temperature (normal use for these devices).

The outlet on the end of some inverters is a "ground fault" type with TEST and RESET buttons. Some folks have had that outlet trip requiring the reset button to be pressed. Some need to be pressed quite deeply to completely reset. Please let us know what you find!
