North Trail 22RBK New seating and sleeping arrangements

We really wanted a sofa but just didn't have room for one as it was. We were sitting on the edge of the bed or just the one seat at the dinette in order to watch tv and even bringing in a folding chair. After looking at jackknife sofas in other units, we found this one. Took a while to actually find someone to sell it to us because the manufacturer (Keystone) said said they couldn't. I removed the existing base (storage) at the end of the bed and built a new one then mounted the sofa. Now we have comfortable seating to watch tv and the sofa folds flat for sleeping. Still working on a mattress but we're pretty happy how it turned out.

Nice mod and use of the underbed storage. One question; when you use it as a sofa, where/how will the new mattress be stored?

We got to try out our new setup this past week while on vacation at the beach. Couldn't be happier that we went ahead and made the change. Now we have comfortable seating to watch tv and hang out and when time for bed just folded the sofa flat. At first we just covered the wood platform behind the sofa with some blankets and a couple sleeping bags but it was pretty hard still and tough to sleep on. The sofa itself was plenty soft but the platform behind it was just not working.

We thought about getting a 4" foam bed topper so went and looked at some but they're really pricy and still didn't look thick enough to be comfortable then we saw an air mattress. This was the perfect way to go. It is 12" thick, has a built in electric pump and was inexpensive. We inflated the mattress at bed time and let the air out in the morning then just folded it up behind the sofa.

All in all this is the best mod we've made to the trailer.
