Well guys I got rid of the Pathfinder for a tow vehicle. Hoping to get a Hummer H2 this weekend! Wish us luck.

Please pray for a safe trip as well, we have to go to mobile Alabama from baton rouge Louisiana! And then turn and drive it again to come back home. 6 hours round trip

Good to hear, but you'll never tow it dry. Make sure the GVWR of the trailer is under your tow rating, and of course, don't exceed your GVWR.

Okay trying to do some math. The H2 weighs in at around 6400 lbs. And the prowler dry weighs 4800 lbs. That equals 11,200. This chart and others show the combined gross vehicle weight it's 14,000. So this should leave me with 2800 pounds of ( adults kids dogs and clothes and food and bikes and water in tank for the potty) correct? If it were maxed out.

Which I know is definitely not where I want to be again! Thanks for your input again! I love the concern with the heartland family

IF you follow a typical upgrade cycle then you will always be behind.

My cycle was initially pulling a 5K HiLo with an 11 Honda Ridgeline.
Followed by a 10K Jayco fifth, pulled by an 02 Ford F250 gasoline V10, which was eventually upgraded to a 14 Ford F250 6.7 diesel, SRW.
My subsequent 16K Heartland led to a 6.7 dually.

Much like heroin - this lifestyle has led to $ expended; much to my inheritors dislike.

Love it. We should start a used truck/camper site and give people premium for their campers and tow vehicles. Instead of everyone always losing so much of their hard earned money!

Here are some calculations.
H2 8600 MAX - 6400 = 2200 (max load on H2) - 1005lbs (assuming 15% tongue weight) max hitch weight = 1195lbs remaining for passengers, gear , Fuel, etc. in H2
Trailer 6700Lbs max - 4800lbs dry = 1900lbs remaining for all extra gear, water, LP etc. in the trailer.
However, You need to verify H2 and Trailer weights using a scale because you may actually be much higher than the listed dry weights.

Perfect. Thanks! Yeah I found that both directions on the interstate have a scale!

Although you have up to 8600 lbs for the truck and up to 6700 lbs for the trailer, you are still limited to a total of 14000lbs.
This can be accommodated somewhat by the fact that 1005 lbs of hitch weight of the total trailer weight be shifted to the truck but still make sure that fully loaded your not exceeding 14000 lbs combined.

Okay guys thanks for the input. I feel I made an educated decision on the tow vehicle we finally bought. It's a 2008 E150. Has the 5.4 l v8 and 3.73 gears. And the knowledge you have provided has helped me be safe!
