Called Plak-R today to place an order and spoke with one of the owners. He stated they are now starting to number the plaques and that Jim assigns these. How does one go about getting the number.

Thanks

Hi Randy and Kathy,

Heartland Owners Club plaque will be a part of the membership kit when you join the Heartland Owners Club. Club membership applications will be taken very soon. Watch for a personal invitation via email in the coming weeks.

Thank you,

Jim, if I order one direct from Plak-R for the $35.00 price, am I correct to believe that it would not be numbered? Or, are they waiting to fill the orders with numbered plaques?
Thanks for getting this idea working.

Jay,

PLAK-R is my supplier but they are not selling the units directly to owners. I am buying in bulk and having them pre-engraved with member numbers. There are about 20 people who bought plaques early on when I allowed PLAK-R to sell direct. This was an error on my part in hindsight. Those 20 will get a discounted membership.

For everyone: The plaques in question are Heartland Owners Club plaques and are engraved with the members 4 digit member number. They are obtained only by becoming a Heartland Owners Club member. They are fulfilled by me and will be included with your club kit.

Thank you for asking.

Jim

Hey Jim,
Do you think 4 digits will be enough?

jbeletti
10-21-2008, 08:00 AM
Mark,

Starting at 1001, that's what, 9,000 members within 4 digits. That would be a big dream. But hey, if my dream is surpassed, we'll go out another digit. :D

Jim,

If u use the 9000 u can use alpha caracters like A001, that would add another 28000 possibilities! :>)

I plan to send those with 20 or so people who already have the plaques, a set of suction cups that can be fixed to the front or back of the plaque. That way you can place it in the back window of your truck or on the front or side of your coach when camped. I have a small inventory of the suction cups so they will go only to those with the un-numbered plaques already.

Jim, are you going to have plaques say "FEARLESS LEADER" on Chapter leaders plaques?? That way we might be singled out for retribution if all does not go well. BTW, if that happens, I will just tell them you made me do it. Bob :D:D:eek:

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reminder on this. I went into that old thread and edited it, then closed it. Don't want people to think they can still buy these direct - when they no longer can.

OK, enough baiting. I want mine. We're heading to our spot in Port Aransas next week, so I'll have to have it sent there and have folks ask me about it. Maybe a few "select" members could be Plak-R factory reps?

PLAK-R sells it to me @ a discounted rate based on my volume. I then include them in your membership kit. This way keep your member rate down.

No one can now buy a Heartland Owners Club plaque and frame outside of becoming a club member.

Soon my friend :)

Hey Jim,

Just a quick thought here... If for some reason you have issues getting the secure billing thing working... if somepeople want theirs right away why not use something like paypal... you might have to charge a extra buck for processing but might save you some work...

just a thought...

I have all winter, so I am not in a hurry..lol

Jim--We are really new to all of this and computers and I are not good partners......I'd rather watch paint dry!!! But, we are proud owners of an 09 Bighorn 3400 RL and would be proud to have one of those numbered Heartland owners plaques. Please add us to your e-mail list that explains how to join the club and order one. Dick & Reta Hill

Hi Dick and Reta,

Soon, you will be having so much fun with your extended Heartland family that you will want to spend more time on the computer with us - therefore your skills will pick up :)

Rest assured, you and all forum members are on the list who will be getting an invitation via email to join the Heartland Owners Club.

Thanks,

You are correct Greg. An email will be going out to all forum members.

Still getting my act together.

That said, I have sort of soft-launched. All of the moderators were the first members. They were application testers. Then Chapter leaders were asked to join. More testing.

Now that the payment module is complete, each night in the Chat Room (//heartlandowners.org/hoc.php), I have given out the URL to join the club. Join us in Chat (//heartlandowners.org/hoc.php) if you want to join early.

I expect to get the email within a week.

Thanks,

Regarding the plaque, can someone clarify if you receive the oval only or is it the oval WITH the black retangular frame?

Sorry to be a pest poster, but we have a fiberglass boo boo to cover so we'd like to know configuration and measurements of the width. If anyone has the plaque nearby, will you please measure and answer the above??

Thanks so much! :)

We received our membership package today #1048 3 days ahead of schedule. Nice job and a lot of work Jim but thanks a lot.

Randy & Kathy, your kit should have come with the oval and frame and two ladder brackets. After putting your oval and frame together and putting your brackets on the ladder of your coach you should be able to put the two together. Take the cotter pins out of the frame, slide pins on the frame down through the holes in the ladder brackets. Put the cotter pins back through the holes you took them out of. Hope this helps.

Yes but mine came with the cotter pin part not attached to the frame of the plaque. How is one suppose to attache this part?

Taz/Bob,

Nope - no one else has asked. I only budgeted 1 card. If there was significant call for additional cards, I would consider a second card for $5.00 or so. Just a thought. Not saying it will happen. Looking for feedback.

Got mine yesterday.. But now for a very important Question. !!!!!

On which rung are you mounting your Plaque on ?????

I have a ladder on the back and store my Patio Mat on the laddder. I will mount my Plaque high up so you can see it and it won't be covered up by the ladder and Mat.
What about the rest of you....

PLAK-R does sell a frame that is designed to use on the inside of the roof access ladder, for those who have ladders or bikes strapped to the roof access ladder.

Cost looks like $24.95 on their site. I don't have any of them yet.

It is your plaque so put it where you want. I put my brackets up high but have not mounted the plaque. Sitting in the RGV, Tx and go on the roof to check things out, do not want to keep removing plaque. When we get ready to move I will put plaque on.

Jim,
HEADS UP!!!!!
Received our plaque(#1068) and have it mounted but not without problems. The bracket broke off one side of the ladder mount almost before out of the box. After a few choice words and thoughts about Plak-R's plastic welding techniques:mad:, I came up with a fix that all may want to consider to prevent losing the plaque while towing.
I drilled two pilot holes on either side of the ladder mount on both sides of the oval mounting bracket.......then used 1/4 head bronze self tapping screws to hard mount the brackets with the clevis pins to the mounting frame. (Clear as mud I hope?) Sure wish I were smarter about this stuff so I could post pix.
Proud to be and owner and to fly the plaque!None

hillsonwheels,

Sorry to hear you received a broken frame. Please call Chuck at PLAK-R in the morning to get a replacement sent to you. Any trouble, please let me know.

This is the 2nd time I have heard this in the first 94 we've sent out. We have since carefully looked over the remaining stock of about 100+ frames before we stuffed them in boxes for future shipment (1% failure in 200 units). They were good. We did find 2 frames that were missing the 2 stainless screws to mount the plaque with. We replaced those before they were put in boxes.

Thanks,

Jim
