sliding bed frame

I seem to discover something new every week on our 2017 cyclone 4005. Today I took out under bed drawer and looked under bed and noticed two gas pistons (one at head and one at foot).
As you can see from photo, part of the bed frame is a steel channel with rollers and piston attached. Although it takes 2 men and a boy to push it in, the bed platform does move about a foot and as soon as you let go the pistons move it back out.

Movement does not seem very practical so does anyone know its intended purpose?

I think your floorplan has a N/S bed...the slideout probably needs to push that side of your bed in so it can close completely like ours does
