Event: Oktoberfest in the Amana Colonies - CANCELLED

Traditionally, we hold a Potluck dinner on Thursday night,the FIRST Night of the rally. This allows more time on Friday and Saturday to enjoy festival events in town.

As we get closer to October 2020, I will update the schedule.

Just a very cold snowy day here in Iowa while I think about plans for the great Iowa rally in October.

Don't forget to make your plans to attend the Iowa chapter rally this fall.

So far this year most all rallies through September have either been cancelled or changed to campouts.
Status is pending on this rally. Anyone that is consider attending this rally I would like to hear your input.

At this point we are scheduled to be in North Carolina on a NOMADS work project over these dates. Of course, that could be cancelled as well, but at this time we aren't expecting to be able to attend this rally. This is a neat area, and is fun to visit even when Octoberfest is not happening. Take care.

As of July 9, Oktoberfest, the town festival is still scheduled to be held. The current news is to expect lower crowds, with a possibility that some events the festival usually has on Sunday may be cancelled. It sounds like most events on Friday and Saturday would be held. But of course all of this is subject to change.

I would like to still hold a rally this year however, I do need people willing to attend.
In there are not enough for a rally and there are some just want a campout, I may be willing to still hold a campout here. I have the time off and plan to campout that week either way.

If Oktoberfest is cancelled and I have people enough signed up and willing to still come to the Amanas, I will still hold the rally. Assuming the campground, does not close or prohibit groups.

The Amana Oktoberfest activities have been canceled and replaced by a series of smaller events this year due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

This will most likely affect the Heartland Rally. TBD.

An update on the Touch of Germany events being held in October 2-4 in Amanas. (Subject to change)

Here are some of the events :
Strolling accordionist on Saturday and Sunday
Live music at millstream Brewery
Barefoot Becky at Price creek event center Tickets available at the door
Parade this will be on a smaller scale than the normal Oktoberfest parade
Specials for shoppers
Scarecrow walk this will take place throughout the Amana
Pony go-round

Regretfully due to lack of participants and the change of local festival events in the Amanas due to the virus, I am cancelling the 2020 Heartland chapter in the Amanas.

Please reserve your calendars for the Amana Oktoberfest in 2021 usually the first weekend in October. Exact date will be announced later.
