Red switch below control panel???

Just below the control panel on our wall, there is a switch that looks like a regular light switch, except that the part you flip is red (and lights up when you flip it up). Can anyone tell me what this is for? We have the Cyclone 3912 model.

That should be the switch that turns on the electric heating element for your water heater. Before you turn it on, make sure your heater is full of water. Run water to purge the air from system.

Thanks!

Thanks, Jim! We thought our water heater was dual electric/propane, but couldn't figure out how to change it to electric. The only instruction booklet we received for the hotwater heater was in french (we never got around to asking for one in English). This will help a lot since our electric is free, but we pay for propane.

Yes roadslaves, just make sure you heater is full of water before turning it on.. in some cases the electrical switch on the heater itself is not on so the interior switch comes on but you get no hot water.. If this happens open heater access door and check to make sure the switch on the outside of the heater is in the on position. The one inside is an override for convenience, so you don't need to go outside. Just leave the one outside in the on position all the time.. but be sure you turn the red switch off when you disconnect or turn off the water.
