Firefox passwords under UBuntu 8.XX

I did a re-install on my OS last night and as usual all things did not migrate. I've had a problem with Firefox migrating data...which it usually does not work for me. I stumbled on the fix for this and thought I would pass it on.

From the Ubuntu website:

Look into the directory ~/.mozilla/firefox (~ is your home dir) and you will see your profile(s). That contains all you asked for you can copy it around, back it up and maybe use it from a network drive (don't know about simultaneous access).

Same goes for the directory ~/.mozilla-thunderbird if you are using thunderbird. It contains all your account settings and e-mails.

Basically, if you keep a back-up of your home directory including all the hidden files and directories (those starting with a "."), and restore it unto each new installation, all applications should be configured as they were before. I find that a very neat feature of LInux.

My thanks to Hennings for his gentle explanation for the un-initiated.
