Can't re-attach rear running light cover

I own a 2016 Bighorn 3010RE.
I removed the oval cover off of the center top rear running lights and can't figure out how to get the cover back on.
Is there a trick to this?

I feel your pain, I just went through the same thing with my BH. I just keep fiddling with it and it snapped into place. I was just about to get out the rubber mallet and give it a tap but it went in with some pressure on it. Push harder than you think.

I think I figured out what the problem was.
I unscrewed the light from the rig to install a backup camera.
While it was detached, I was able to attach the cover fairly easily.
When I re-attached the light, I did not tighten it up as much as I had done previously, and the cover snapped on fairly easily.
