Between watching dressage for mules and learning how to remove pond scum from my cattle trough, I found a few programs that bear watching.

I've only seen these on RFD. They may be available locally to you.

1. Texas Country Reporter. Bob Phillips has been doing this for 30 years. I remember when this program was called Texas Hill Country Reporter. Houston had the Eyes of Texas with Ray Miller and later Ron Stone. Both shows travel around Texas stopping at the unusual places you can find there. Barbershops, BBQ, Kids Rodeos, stuff from all over the state. I try to never miss a program and I keep a pad to add to my list of places to see. http://www.texascountryreporter.com/

2. Alaska Magazine. If you want to learn about it...it's probably here. Full of out of the way places to visit. I've subscribed to the print version for several centuries. http://www.alaskamagazinetv.com/

3. Postcards from Nebraska. A program about the people and places in Nebraska. I never considered Nebraska a hot spot for tourism. But, after watching the program, I'm added a couple of places to my hit list. It's folksy, but fun. http://www.rfdtv.com/shows/Postcards.asp

4. Michigan Magazine is dedicated to finding the "real" Michigan one will see down the side roads of the state and placing it in the "spotlight" Ok, I didn't write that. http://www.michiganmagazine.com/

5. Heartland Highways. This one is strictly Illinois far away from Chicago. A pretty cool show. And, it has some interesting places to visit http://www.weiu.net

6. Dakota Life. Dakota Life takes to South Dakota's highways and byways to find the stories that make life in the state unique. It includes visits with artists, musicians, artisans, teachers, historians, museum curators and other South Dakotans with a story to tell. The results are extraordinary snapshots of ordinary lives. http://www.sdpb.org/tv/daklife/index.asp

7. California Country. California Country is a weekly, 30-minute show that educates and entertains viewers about the people working hard behind the scenes that have made this state the most productive food producer in America for more than 50 years in a row. http://www.cacountry.tv/

8. Bluegrass and Backroads. Mike Feldhaus hosts Bluegrass & Backroads, a weekly thirty-minute program which features unique Kentucky people and places. The program highlights many ag related stories mixed with festivals, artisans and events from across the Commonwealth. http://www.rfdtv.com/Shows/BluegrassBackroads.asp

9. Baxter Black. Ok, so it ain't trailer related. Welcome to my Web site. I'm Baxter Black, cowboy poet, former large animal veterinarian and observer of the cracks in the universe. This guy is from Benson, Az...he probably won't remember me...but, we used him as a Vet back in my bad old Army Days. Yee Haw! http://www.baxterblack.com/

If you know of TV programs like these post 'em up. Lotta places to see if you know about them.

Well, time for my burro shoeing program.
