Question about rating

We plan to full time and I would like to know if the warranty would be voided on any Bighorn unit if we were full timing?

Full Timing

Our warranty is one year bumper to bumper with a number of other product warranties backing that up - from 20 years on the roofing material; 10/25 years on the plumbing lines; limited Lifetime on the Flexsteel furniture; 3 years on the A/C; 3 years on the Refer; 3 years on the microwave; 3 years on the awnings and slide toppers; 3 years on the toilet; 2 years on the rangetop; and various other warranties on the lighting and other components.

When it comes to "full timers", like 99% of the RV manufacturers, we have a clause in our warranty that stipulates that our units are "Recreational Vehicles" and as such, are designed and intended for recreational useage. Thus anyone who uses them for anything other than recreational purposes, such as a permanent residence or a rental property, etc. - "MAY VOID" their warranty.
We (again 99% of RV mfg.s) have to cover ourselves against those instances where we just cant be liable for over usage. Even though Heartland chooses to use the finest materials and components in our RVs, these components are still designed and built for recreational useage. For example, we use a great, porcelain commode from Dometic. However, it is not a full size, residential commode (some parts are plastic vs. brass, etc.) and if someone were to use it six to eight times a day, day after day, week after week, month after month - it would wear out before a residential commode would - again, because it was designed and built for recreational usage in an RV - not residential usage.

That is why we have to have the stipulation in our warranty about it being a recreational vehicle, not a permenant structure.

All that being said, we have a number of couples who have chosen the Heartland fifth wheel to do their "full timing" in because of our superior construction, insulation values and overall residential quality and feel to our interiors - and they seem to be doing great!

Full timing

I have been reading posts here for a while as Heartland is one of the few brands we are considering for our full-time RV. On many other sites I've visited, the full time capable question often comes up and the usual response is that "in the owners manual, it says the units are for recreational use only". There has not been any explanation, until now, of exactly what that means. Thank you Scott for a reasonable and concise explanation.....
